Byron
For those of us that live by the sun, the winter solstice was at just after 4.00 am today and the sun has now started to rise.
Bossybabe
How can you live by the sun in this benighted country? Happy new year.

Economic Exile
I prefer celebrating the solstice rather than christmas. Many christmas decorations are associated with pagan celebrations of days gone by.

Frank Hovis
Happy New Year Byron & Economic Exile; this is also my "the year has turned" movement. We're on the upward slope, every day now we angle further into the sun and the day lengthens a fraction. Everything is getting better. Brilliant! Byron
Oddly enough, although the day is getting longer, the mornings will get darker for about 2 more weeks, even though the evenings get lighter. The evenings started to get lighter after the 14th December. Its all to do with the equation of time, in that noon and 12.00 midday rarely coincide. Bloo Loo
Another year and God himself has saved us from everlasting darkness...again. regular as clockwork, God has seen that his days are getting shorter, and by his good grace, he has saved us from the darkness...again. Lets celebrate Gods good Grace.
