How much for Exhibit A, 432 APC Excellent condition, crisp engine and gearbox-drives taught & smooth. Low mileage, later spec. with white interior, seats both sides, fitted for Bowman. Night vision fitted. Original exterior paint, ready to show or work. How much for Exhibit B, road registered CVR(W) Fox Recently painted and ready to take to shows. Runs well and everything operates. New batteries just fitted. All four tyres are very good. A very clean vehicle inside and out, with the correct CES kit - shovel, pick axe, all scopes etc. Deactivated gun. There's some very exotic, particularly soviet era, kit around for not much money - scud missile launchers and such like. The smaller stuff is ok for the private enthusisasts driveway but if you buy something over 3.5 ton you could possibly spend more than the vehicle's worth on recovery. It works ok for me because I've got articulated lorries, a vehicle workshop and plenty of storage space as part of a business. Hiring in all this to service your large miltary vehicle hobby would be a big cost. These things are a bit like a dog being for life not just for Christmas. Typically, you'll spend a few weekends driving it and then get bored and realise you've got this f**king enormous lump of metal that's got to be stored and won't be easily sold in Autotrader - even at a substantial discount. There's also the restoration project delusion - unless you've got endless time on your hands and a real passion/obsession for a particular vehicle it never get any further than the condition you buy it in. I also would prefer a tyre vehicle than tracks. Might ruin the lawn. You can get rubber tracks for road use but, because of the way they turn they will still scrub quite badly. You do have to get an H category on your driving licence to be able to take road registered tracked vehicles out on the highway on your own - regular car licence does give automatic provisional entitlement though, I seem to recall. I'd say more to go wrong with tracks as well. I reckon you should be able to get a decent rubber tyred wheels ferret or scout type armoured car for sub £10k that's all up together and ready to go. They tend to look worse value for money when compared to larger vehicles because they're storable on driveways etc. there's more interest in them than say main battle tanks or missile launchers which neighbours would almost certainly much less tolerant of.
