'Bart' replied to homeless's topic in House prices and the economy
Is the BoE a firm? "Charity tells BoE to stop creating inflation". Join the queue. -
+1 I'm glad to be out of it all. Haven't watched any BBC TV this week, not even on iPlayer. In fact, I couldn't tell you what was on.

Certainly has been of late.

Silly question alert but when making an offer for a house, when and to whom is it made? Can you make an offer to the owner straight after viewing, or is it usual to go away, have a think and then contact the EA?

Hmmm... Without wishing to be too down on social housing tenants (I am one myself) but maybe it's because I'm a social tenant I can see the potential pitfalls. I wouldn't want to have forked out £90,000 to be surrounded by some of the people I've encountered in social housing over the years.

Bank Of England Prepares £200Bn Economic Stimulus
'Bart' replied to nmarks's topic in House prices and the economy
The money junkies need to keep shooting up ever larger injections of cash. What will they do when this £200 billion fails to work? As it will (as has been said on this thread, you can't stimulate a corpse). -
I missed that one. As you say, a horror story. My dad always used to say that they shouldn't have moved families to the likes of Hyde Park. It's not a place I'd have liked to grow up in. I grew up at Herdings, S14 and we had the local park to play in, streets largely devoid of cars and lots of woods to roam in until teatime. (We even used to wear shorts as well, no ginger beer or cold ham though.) We used to live in one of the tower blocks at Herdings until I was about 2. My mum and dad did a house exchange because they did't want to bring up a growing child there.

I'm getting 3.9% in my ISA, which, after taking the effect of inflation* into account, gives me a whopping -1%. * Real inflation that is.

Uk Borrowing Higher Than Expected In May
'Bart' replied to Trampa501's topic in House prices and the economy
About half of that extra £2 billion must surely be inflation related?
