And even the second leg of HS2 now gone
ECS2 replied to NoHPCinTheUK's topic in House prices and the economy
*As in a brand new line then allows the older lines to carry many more freight trains and stopping services to help with new housing around existing stations. -

Only the UK could be unable to build a High Speed line when the rest of the developed world can. Led by idiots. I'm 20 years time it'll be built but at even higher cost. Both parties will keep population growth extremely high meaning we'll need extra rail capacity and not just for passe gets bit to get freight worries off the road and more local services which HS2 will do massively. It's why most countries build them ffs -
Civil Service diversity jobs will be scrapped

They won't. And this is just red meat to the GBNews, Telegraph, Express crowd who will fall for anything the Tories say. Thing is few read those papers or watch that channel. 1980s tactics -
How many are still left on tax credits now? Most must have moved over? UC does apply a lot more conditions than TC ever did. Too much in some regards. We went from super lax on many trying it on to punitive on those in need with UC if not on legacy. Presumably to be seen to be tough while those on TC moved over on legacy conditions. Systems is a mess that isn't fair.

Higher growth means interest rates stay higher for longer. Basic stuff

What will collapse next....

It's a stalemate. Russia's current offensive is also a shitshow. They're losing massive amounts of armour and men. They don't have much capability to replace that armour hence why sending lightly armoured trucks to the Frontline along with 60 year old APC and not much better tanks. -
The answer is to not restrict land, not allow long term landbanking and not allow developers to make 20 per cent margins minimum before they claim a development is "viable" and provide funds for local services and affordable housing. It's clearly an industry with govt helping big developers to extreme profits levels.

Sunak Is Going To Be Useless
ECS2 replied to Social Justice League's topic in House prices and the economy
The Treasury have been wrong on just about every issues for decades. Wasted billions and wrong on all the big calls. Now we have Sunak who is their man through and through. -
Slow but surely - Sanity creeping back to the UK
ECS2 replied to The Angry Capitalist's topic in House prices and the economy
So the UK continues to be just about the entire developed nation in the world with no proper High Speed rail network. Hardly something to celebrate. Typical short term thinking endemic of the country. -

Old trick to get people to ring/email then get them on the books -
Some don't. Others will have high tax rates with income used to build low cost homes. Not many are as thoughtless or unbothered about their own citizens as the UK Govt.
