  1. Mind you at least he's got the sense to pay more on his mortgage.
  2. Actually i think this one from the same blog shows how ridiculous the man is... "More likely, however, is that price rises will continue to moderate, to give us something like the price stagnation seen between the middle of 2004 and the autumn of 2005. That would please the Bank. It would also be a healthy development for the economy." And he gets paid for this....
  3. I think, as the editor seems a reasonable chap, the OP should also put this forward to him: An editorial comparing two different views of the market (ie OP's/ or any others who might be interested and to55er smith's), maybe giving projections, with the premise of looking back in 12 months and seeing who was right. This will: A) give HPC a good chance of getting some sensible reasoning in the press Hopefully make smith look even more of a dick C) Provide some interesting editorial which they may go for to try and prove they have no VI's Doubt they'll go for it, but could be worth a shot if sold to them the right way? Oh yes...and tell the editor how rude you thought smiths response!!
  4. Maybe the banks are trying to speed up the inevitable crash? Sooner its done and dusted the better. They know there are many people out there waiting for more sensible prices...
  5. So on that basis Rinoa, retail spending is down how much from the 25th of december? Can you explain how this is relevant information please?
  6. Think someone should ask a question regarding the petition about his resignation...then we'll get everyone to vote for it so he has to answer it!
  7. First of all i'd like to thank HPC for opening my eyes to what really has gone on and is currently going on in the property market. Very nearly bought into all the BS and sell my soul a couple of years ago for a pokey flat in london at a stretch. Am now in a much better position, secure job, considerable deposit available (and rising!) saving hard with by other half, and most of all.....Eyes are now wide wide open. This means that by waiting maybe a year or two we'll be able to afford a 2-3 bedroom house in a lovely area we've been dying to live in for a while, probably a much nicer first home than we'd have been able to afford previously. Probably bit old for FTB (32) but by waiting i am now completely debt free (other half has no debt either), credit rating crap, but will get sorted this year. While i feel sorry for people who bit off more than they could chew and are now in rocky situations, some of these are people who wouldn't hesitate in bragging how much money they'd made off property previously. Many of these are victims of irresponsible marketing etc and not doing their own research. To be honest, i'm just glad that i'll be able to afford a nice place for me and my GF, and that this is the first time in a long time that this is a possibility!
  8. Yes. Its spring and i just saw a pulseless feline rebound from the floor. It will probably go up next month too. Roll on summer, maybe then, once the trend continues, we can avoid these stupid stupid stupid echoes of ' HPC over' etc from the bulls who seem to ignore the fact that we are economically in the sh1t, yet who declare that the usual spring bounce means that the HPC is over, and maybe they can claw their BTL portfolio out of NE. So if HPC is over, all you bulls must be rushing out to buy property right? erm, no. Why? Because deep down, there is a small part of your brains which deals with common sense, and that is saying "don't do it Hamish! Pleeeeease.......!" Open your eyes. HPC over? Right oh...
  9. Right then, instead of just sitting here and whinging, why don't we all just get together and blitz any kind of show like this with calls? If they screen caller pre callers, just say you are a potential BTL looking for advice etc, then when you get on air, grill them with the very sound economic knowledge which obviously permeates throughout this site... Lets start a economic media thread which lists any possible opportunities to do this then any of our posters who are available (except sibley/valerius and co) to do the business. We really should do the responsible thing, use what knowledge we have and start to get our voices heard to the normal people and stop them getting polluted by these VI scum!!!
  10. Yeah think they've decided to add in a psychological edge haven't they? Bit too soon for tiananmen though i think...probably won't see that name for an op til the next big bust (oh no, i forgot, Gordon had put an end to that....)
  11. Have just read the wiki link and find it very very worrying. Don't they usually call them after gods or something? Like poseidon. Not a good sign. Wonder if your average bobby or riot police member know the significance of the name? Hope not....
  12. I know, i'd go if it wasn't for the anarchy brigade (or special branch) stirring things up. Maybe as a country we need to take a leaf out of the hippies book and have a huge sit down protest (and a nice cup of tea).
  13. So surely, as Gordon has bankrupt the country, if MPs are going to claim for a residence then any profit which is made should be put back into the treasury, after all they are living there for free!! Or scrap 2nd home expenses. Let them put money back into economy by commuting, unless they live miles away the they can get hotel like eveyone else who works away for work!!
  14. On what basis? I'm a senior intensive care nurse, and even after my unsocial hours from working nights and every other weekend are included I'm still on less than a teacher.
  15. http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/poli...the+g20/3047682 Quite an interesting piece about the protests....
  16. Maybe we should all put in separate complaints to the press complaints commission www.pcc.org.uk i think. There are grounds for complaint if articles are inaccurate or if people are not given the chance to comment (think that may be a possible grounds for complaining about BBC too).
  17. Seems to be quite an epidemic of peakitis at the moment Dr. I gather symptoms are very similar to D+V, sweaty, nauseous panicked feeling followed by torrents of sh1t
  18. Maybe they're all attending viewings with EAs?
  19. And if you're not rushing out to buy, can you tell us why not?.... Hmmmmm very quiet.
  20. So if we could just do a brief poll? As the HPC is well and truly over, how many of you bulls will be popping out this week to look at potential properties to buy?....Being as now is the best time and all that.....
  21. Amazing really. One piece of 'good news' (although hardly) and people seem to forget the situation we're in. How can this possibly be the end of HPC with rising unemployment low productivity etc etc etc etc etc?????? This is nothing more than the bull trap we've been expecting...and guess what? They've fallen for it a dream!! If you can see sunshine on your TV screen at midnight, then you may not want to believe it bulls, go outside and look around, you may see a different picture, it's very different with your own eyes....
  22. So you don't consider nurses professionals who make an important contribution? My GF is an ICU nurse, she needs to know an amazing amount of knowledge to do her job well, probably a lot more than most jnr drs, and to be honest, not knocking teachers, but to say they make more of a contribution is completely misguided. Nursing hasn't been 'damaged', it's done what it needed to to be taken seriously as a profession and in pay, etc.
  23. Read that the Europe version will be around £4k. Not so much of a bargain.
  24. I've got an Xbox 360...instead of giving me a score for it, i'll do you a favour and swap it for one of your, obviously many BTL's. What do you say? Actually, i think i'll pass. Doesn't actually seem like a good deal....
