  1. Nick Cleg as deputy PM? Pointless. He'll spend all his time wandering the commons telling everyone "I'm not Dave's bitch, honest".
  2. How do you go about declaring the extra £200 you get to the taxman? Do you ask for self assesment or wait when they break your door down?
  3. That doesn't matter if we can replenish the 50% quickly enough. With the new LNG terminals and the Norwegian pipeline, it is feasible. Even at that rate of consumption, there was more gas than the '7 days' stated by the Tories lately. Problem is shifting it around quickly enough, hence the balancing alerts to industry to keep the pipes open to feed domestic demand. Gas infrastructure is woeful with no realistic growth in transmission capacity being planned. If you want to panic, wait for Snow and some show down with Russia.
  4. If there is an enemy here, it's the uber class. Enough money to buy their own health care, education, political influence, and mobile enough to move at the merest hint of taxation. The working class are the first to go and have been since Thatcher (my age is showing now); for anyone with an IQ of 90-110, the days of muddling through the education system and landing a good Blue-Collar, or entry level White-Collar job are gone. How many manufacturing plants have closed down? The middle class 'professionals' will be next hit as the tax take reduces and government largess dries up. Forced to pay for more their own health care, education, retirement, and still being hit with punitive tax measures. I know a few families from South America, and Asia. Their kids always moaned about their parents view of the world and the subsequent advice given, but I'm beginning to see the wisdom of it.
  5. As a human being, I have a spark of sympathy for her. As a rational human being, I want her publicly paraded around every comprehensive and shown to every schoolgirl chav bint, explaining what dreaming about reality shows, pop music careers, the WAG type life, and the 'bling' lifestyle really boil down to. Perhaps they could bring skanky scary spice in it too?
  6. picard - no worries. beerhunter - you the man!
  7. This is going to be a long night. Check the exact date of the news item. Then google the significance of the date.
  8. You may want to check the date of the news article you refer too
  9. [quote name='P-Diddly' date='17 October 2009 - 09:26 PM' timestamp='1255811185' post='2199069' I got a French girl and 150 bags of Tesco 10 jam donuts into a Mini 1000 once . . you know how to have a good time then !!
  10. I'd prefer to see world changing news from a better source. This smells like right wing baiting. A quick lookup of Monckton shows up his true beliefs
  11. Link still works for me. If the terms stay, it sounds good. However I am also nervous, especially after the icelandic fun and games
  12. I'll see that and raise you to the AA offering 5.15% for 5 years with early withdrawl at 90 days interest. link
  13. Northern Rock offering 3.75% on a 1 year bond. If Government owned banks need to keep capital at that rate, then IRs are headed only one way and soon.
  14. Physical fiat money will always have an intrinsic commodity value. The further it is debased, the more closer you get to the commodity value being more than the fiat value; Greshams Law. Explains the desire by TPTB to move to electronic money. No physical, no commodity, no limit to debasement. Almost, the ultimate means of exchange is the bigger stick
  15. Cos ofwat capped their price rises for the next few years.
  16. I never said our problems were over or anything of the sort. I mentioned that instead of the government grasping the nettle and sorting it, they have sold their grandchildren. The "opportunity cost"? If you check the prices, gold has dropped more than 10% in sterling. My point again is that the UK is selling itself and propping up the banking industry more than the US. The result is institutional investors pile into sterling, causing gold to fall. What remains is if the illusion can be held by the masses; after all they're the ones looking at wholesale cuts in public services and increases in taxation to fund all of this.
  17. Agreed. A lot of people, myself included, have been burned by the gold bubble. I can live with that (caveat emptor and all that), but physical wealth isn't needed as much now that governments have proven their willingness to enslave the majority for the wealthy minority.
  18. Fits comfortably into the narrow world view of the foaming dailymail and far-right brigade. Whilst, IMHO, the truth is closer to your second statement. As proven by innumerable South American, Africa, and Far East countries.
  19. Yes, No, Maybe, ...take your pick, and stay in the illusion. Everyone else, take the red pill .
  20. "Follow the money and you end up with a white man" (sic) Rush Hour II It's all r****t bullsh*t. It's funny Nationalist isn't wading in.....
  21. With that phrase you've summed up all that is wrong with the sheeple out there. I'm s**t scared right now. The signs were obvious, but you chose to ignore them. I remember a previous post of yours, looking to see what mini laptop to buy so you could be seen as being in with the crowd. My employer has said nothing at the moment, but I've already kept my CV up to date and put a bit aside if I should get the chop. With all that said, you do seem genuine if misguided, so I hope things work out for you soon. Keep positive and let this strengthen you for the future. peace
  22. I'm glad the guy has managed to survive this, but I feel no pity for him.
  23. Does Sibley get an award for most zealot bull?
