BandWagon
30 year old Kate has been living in 7 rental properties over the last 10 years. Wants the security of her own place, loves her job, on 26k a year. Living in London, average place costs £270k, so over 10 times salary. She lives in Battersea, quite close to where I live, and where TTRTR has his houses. She's looking to buy with a stranger. Debra, Matt or Angela... coolaftershave
may be a repeat???? Dont think its a repeat. Good so far as BBC has mention all of the 7 * income info we have. But still pumping the idea you should get on at all cost. I think BBC is slowly pulling wool off people eyes.... Slowly Slowly the public are being prepared to "make up their own mind" that the proparty market is bad. CAS
Shamus
Madness...another way of keeping HPI ticking along a bit longer... It's like squeezing blood out of a stone. What happens if the price of the property they buy drops and someone wants out??? Edit: Have a laugh at these housing market cartoons! TW11
This is brilliant telly for the bears. Housing is that unaffordable you have to buy it with a stranger. Excellent stuff.
Jason
Why do they have to buy with one other stranger? Why don't all 4 buy together and hot-bed? And she just said... "I've been given two weeks notice to move out of my rented flat". Isn't the legal AST 1month? TTRTR please tell us so...
coolaftershave
Dont like the way its heading now. Pointing out all the hardships of renting. 1. Being turfed out with a notice period of 2 weeks!! Is that even legal. This is brain washing. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Jason
1. Being turfed out with a notice period of 2 weeks!! Is that even legal. Grrrrrrrrrrr Just said it again.. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...a little more...
TW11
Imagine the good middle classes of Battersea realising that the teacher who teaches their little darlings earns 35k pa and is contemplating buying a flat with a complete stranger. FFS. No bubble then.
coolaftershave
Just said it again.. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...a little more... My I am a real bear... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr <- Bearish Grrrrrrrr What I dont understand is that if house prices do keep going up.... the number of people grouping together to buy one will increase!!! ITS A DATING SHOW -------------------------- This is actually social engineering. People are less willing to settle down... So... what to do. Force houseprices up. Force/trick people to buy with a stranger... they will do this by dating (as this program shows) fall inlove eventually.... have a house/mortgage.... one less person to worry about. The're on a leash and will have to much responsibilities to protest against government policy. I am also very angry with this "I want to be a grown up and move on, take the next step" attitude. Only children want to be / or act like grownups. A reall adult would notice that the market it a bad investment. Real adults just are... adults. All those kids throwing themselvs at a future of debt cause they want to grow up... god.. its scary. They need a smack. Oh.... rant over. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. Shamus
Buying seems so exciting - securing a property, instructing a solicitor, paying the fees, paying the stamp duty. Market has peaked so little chance in getting ahead when they come to sale. One step forward will be many steps back in the long term. Is that even legal. This is brain washing. Grrrrrrrrrrr ASTs... the landlord has to give 2 months notice, the tenant 1 month. To expire on a rent day, so if the landlord is one day late he has to give you 3 months less 1 day notice. Not always possible to find a landlord who knows the law... right_freds_dead
Should have gone to a singles bar rather than parade their desperation for a mate on telly i told you her was trying to get into her pants. and he did. in the end. he played the long game. hes probably shafting her from behind right now as we type. shes sweating and grunting and holding onto that metal bedhead of his. deeper baby yeah !! etc. whos the nerds now ?? BuyingBear
Is it possible for three people to get married? I suggested just that the other day They're really pushing these marginal or desperate buying techniques, I suspect the BBC will be pushing shared ownership and x10 mortgage multiples soon. Gotta keep Gordon sweet if the Beeb wants its charter renewed on favourable terms. The BBC - 'This is what we do'
SarahBell
I enjoyed the show - great telly BUT did have to remind myself that its their only step on the ladder. Prices up, down or stay the same they're in a terrible position.
zag2me
Just more proof its easy to buy a property with 2 people. Oh and another thing, how did they get a mortgage for 230k?
munimula
Just more proof its easy to buy a property with 2 people. Oh and another thing, how did they get a mortgage for 230k? £245K They didn't go into finances and amount of deposit held etc although the girl that had £11K deposit was quoted as having the largest deposit. As the others didn't show that they had a deposit it would be fair to assume they didn't. Depends how you define 'easy'. Yes, as this proves it is 'easy' to get banks to loan the money to buy property but whether it is 'easy' to service that loan is another question. Their future will be far from easy, what happens when one of them gets a partner, wants to move out etc etc. There would be no hope for either one of them taking on the whole place

He wouldn't get a mortgage of 7 times his earnings to take over her share of the mortgage. She wouldn't get a mortgage of 9 times her earnings to do the same.
