A report released by the Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel shows the country has the highest poverty rates among OECD countries and faces “worrisome trends” that could have disastrous effects on its growing population.

According to the Picture of the Nation 2017 report, with Israel’s aging population and rising costs across the board, its “current sources of economic growth are not sustainable.”

The country ranks 22nd out of 34 of the OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) regarding GDP and takes the 24th spot within the market income poverty rate. Among developed countries, Israel has the highest percentage of its population living below the poverty line.

“The past year has seen a decline in unemployment and a large rise in GDP,” but “unfortunately, it appears that this positive trend will not continue and new sources of growth must be found,” said the report.

The Taub Center also described Israel’s four percent GDP growth as an “outlier and not a trend.”

Someone once told me, don't ever do business with Israel, they will screw you over. Later on I worked for a firm who did and yes we got screwed over, it was impossible to make any money on that contract. They want you to work for nothing and in fact you pay them to do a job.

just got to know how they operate.

they will drive a VERY hard bargain for sure,and they will expect all i's dotted and t's crossed in that contract, but once you shake hands on it they don't go back on their word.

part of the culture(and quasi military to boot), if they order something from a supplier it is expected to be on time and work.you have to remember that national service is mandatory there,and even at 16 their kids are being thrown into northern ireland on steroids.

basically if that was a military bit of kit and they are being pounded by rockets while they are waiting for your stuff to turn up,it wouldn't be a terribly good show in any army

Israel could be described as having the same cultural character problems of E. Europe and the Middle East compressed together into a fine paste - and a ton of Israel's youth is in porn production and facing a problem of affordable housing comparable to our own.
