Very interestingwatching this...

just quickly looked up one that just sold...

lot 133, sold today for £20.000.

7 Haig Terrace, Ferryhill, Durham. DL17 8NR.

Last sale was in December 2007 for £40,000. Not much of an investment then!

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatching.html?prop=58317025&sale=39840630&country=england

Yeah, there were loads from Ferryhill.Very much resembled a firesale of a large local BTLer.Even on gross yields of near 20% there was little demand.Despite all the enticements such as 'this is no money',cheap at the price' etc etc

Watching the auctioneer scratching for £250 increments on one bed flats going for £16k in Bradford.............Ominous......

Just totted up the London lots and only 13 out of 26 sold on the day. Not counting 'sold prior' or 'withdrawn' lots.

I thought that was quite telling.I watched the Islington one live(as mentioned before). It got put in at the last minute.Clearly, someone bid it up to the reserve and then what do you know...unsold at £1mn plus change.

In the old days we had M21er and thereafter Tommyboy who managed to set up auction threads where the prices and losses got updated live on thread.Good days.

Maybe theyll be dropping the increments to £50 at allsops next month lol

Really was quite telling imo.Auctioneer at one stage gave a proper ticking off to someone slow bidding £250 increments............He then proceeded to take three more slowish £250 bid ups..........hilarious.

really enjoyed the parasites actually trying to earn a living, lol EA's will be cautiously watching the markets now. Allsop is the next major auction, as we get closer to the April deadline for salt we should see fewer buyers still

Que?

This practice should be banned, well dodgy, downright dishonest con.

subdued is an understatement. One couple high fives each other but appears to be the same people bidding on the cheap lots

Catching a falling knife. It's only a 20% yield if they pay you.

That might be a flat split, student central perhaps? Looks like some decent sized detached houses on that road, id be very surpised if a detached in Bournemouth went for that price.

Zoopla saying £216k....you do wonder what some of these punters are after. It's an auction, buyers go to auction to get a discount for a quicker sale.Someone's been watching too much HUTH.

East Sussex, last bid 146, unsold

Sales finished. Looks pretty bad to me, lots of unsold and that is selling is prolly BTL dumping at the lowest bid, which is WAY under expectations.

On streetview,it looks like a main road.Zoopla estimate £249k,another HUTH fan.

It's an auction. It depends who's there.Your people farmers will still be there, but they're not interested in 4% gross yields on detached properties with high council tax banding.

There was an auction thread posted a week or two back where the practice is clearly really common.Loads of stuff going unsold with substantial bids not hitting reserve.

Take a look on street view, very nice road and nice property.

I live not far from there, it is not accessible to student at all.

Gorgeous.

To be fair, the whole auction looked like carnage.People farmers don't turn down gross yields of 20% wihtout good reason.Maybe we've reached people farming saturation point?

Then there was the lack of sales in London and the fact that most of the houses that weren't terraces on 20% yields didn't make reserve............

Fascinating stuff.

M21er,Tommyboy.............come back....

Was interesting seeing that old vicarage in Staffs not sell for £500k....

You don't normally get quality repo's going through auction.
