Robert Winnett By Robert Winnett, Deputy Political Editor 6:30AM GMT 25 Mar 2011 Comment From next month, MPs will be able to claim for the costs of accommodating their children at a second home – and will receive thousands of pounds extra towards staffing costs. 31 MPs who live in commuter areas around London will also again be able to claim for a second home. MPs will also be able to use a taxpayer-funded credit card to pay for certain home and office costs. The relaxation of expenses rules will be announced today by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa) – following an aggressive campaign against the regulator from MPs. David Cameron had threatened to abolish the new regulator if it did not agree to water down the rules.

The plan is to be long gone from this godforsaken place by then in any case.
