Yes but as our glorious leader has pointed out, selling the gold off was actually the fault of the Conservatives. Apparently at the end of the Tory government we were too heavily into gold and Gordon, with due prudence, decided that he needed to get rid of some of the gold and have a more balanced portfolio.
