This what WW3 looks like. Lots of smaller proxy wars with NATO/the other side backing their chosen side. Nuclear holocaust it isn't going to be. -

Now there's an idea. Instead of paying Fat Shazza to sit on her arse all day, get her out with a litter picker. -

"State failure". Not "failed state". Read what I write rather than what you think I write. -

Yields Crumbling as rate cuts priced in
Mandalorian replied to Stewy's topic in House prices and the economy
With an ever shrinking tax paying base and an ever growing tax absorbing base, the payers have now got to the point where they are asking themselves why they bother and are taking action. We're at the point where Labour ain't going to be able to raise tax (and if they try they will be shocked at getting LESS income) and IRs are too high to borrow the difference. Public spending (benefits cos "skoolz an ospittals" as Blair used to say, are sacred) will have to be cut. No extra hours (too much tax on it), not taking promotion (too much tax on it), doing the bare minimum (too much tax on it otherwise), going part time (too much tax on it otherwise), jacking it in early (too much tax on it otherwise). We'll have an IMF visit before too long. -

When someone forces HMG to pull the plug on the spending. HMG won't do it by itself. Comes under the heading of 'too hard' -

Correct HPI/asset PI is just the devaluation of the currency. House prices aren't going up. Your local currency is going down. I was in Zimbabwe not long ago and one of the ex Rhodesians told me he loved inflation. He said 'just buy houses and you'll be fine'. (Expropriation risk aside) -

State failure. For me, the most obvious symbol of how Britain is on the verge of becoming a failed state is the condition of the roads and litter everywhere. A fortune in tax paid and you see the literal decay EVERYWHERE An incoming government would be wise to fix these two problems as it would be a very obvious (and easy and comparitively cheap) visible symbol of turning the ship around. (Bad metaphor given yesterday, but hey ho) -

What you see as a crash. Is it actually a crash? I don't see the price of, say US shares, as spiking upwards. I see paper currencies as being devalued. The stock market isn't booming. The pound (and dollar) is crashing. -

Or the realisation that having kids is tiring, draining and not everything people make it out to be. I often wonder if those who say "it's wonderful and so fulfilling", "I love being a parent", "there's nothing like being a Dad", "it completely changed me" etc are actually trying to convince themselves and not other people.
