  1. Will be interesting to see Persimmon's results this year, given they were making £66k profit per house on average back in 2021.... https://uk.news.yahoo.com/persimmon-made-66000-per-house-as-profits-jumped-house-prices-095613960.html
  2. This is key. Employers are trying to flog people's boll*cks off, but without the commensurate reward, why would you?
  3. I'm going to guess it'll be a lowish print. Reasoning - the "experts" have been pretty much wrong at every turn regarding the path of inflation and IR's over the last 12-18 months, so by the law of averages the useless sods must be right at some point.
  4. And how do you suggest people "avoid being punched"? Both red and blue are shite, but (probably) the red side will dish out a marginally lesser beating to me. Still doesn't avoid the beating though.
  5. F**k a duck! Living in that place would cause all kinds of mental health issues, methinks.
  6. Proxies can be setup as man in the middle to decrypt HTTPS traffic. If someone's PC is compromised, they could be directed to such a proxy (though the root cert would have to be installed and trusted too).
  7. How the f**k was that ever considered to be worth £265K. Was the EA on drugs?
  8. I only got up to the bit where he was criticising banks for people remortgaging every 2 or 5 years. FFS, there are longer fixes available, but people really do just want their cake and eat it too.
  9. https://www.lepainquotidien.com/uk/en/Locations/ All bar the St Pancras one showing as closed, and when you click on the individual stores no opening times are listed.
  10. So why is there so much bleating from "homeowners"?
  11. Quality of service in shops is a major bugbear of mine. I was in a self-service restaurant, got a takeaway coffee from the machine and there were no lids. I asked the lady behind the till (the only staff member visible). She logged off her till and got some lids. So far, so good. However, I then walked back to the till to pay. To my amazement, she noticed the coffee machines were low on beans and spent some time getting new coffee bags out and filling them, all the while keeping me waiting. She then decided the drip trays needed emptying and walked off into the back with them. I was waiting about 10 minutes before she re-emerged, with no apology offered or even any words. I think lots of stores have cut back on supervisors and managers etc., who used to keep the staff in line. All part of the cost cutting, leading to an ever sh***er service.
  12. What would the council be investing in this case? The building is privately owned.
  13. Quote from the article - so, it's increased by a very small amount. Be interested to see the stats in a few months..... Around 22 per cent of property transactions have collapsed so far this year, according to Rightmove, which compares to around 20 per cent in the relatively normal pre-pandemic times of 2019.
  14. Feck me. All for an energy drink? People have gone mad.
  15. Agreed. OP posting some nonsense without any links or facts to back it up. Happening a lot more on here recently, sadly.
  16. Good post - thanks for including proper links. I despair at what this country is turning into. How on earth can all those people suddenly be no longer needed? As you've posted, classroom sizes are already daft, and lots of classes rely heavily on the teaching assistants to help out. As a country we really are good at f***ing ourselves in the a**se, aren''t we?
  17. They do though. I've seen it on investing forums everywhere. Doesn't matter if it's shares, crypto, gold, silver, whatever. People who don't understand the risks involved are the complainers. But do they scream and wail for government intervention to cover their losses?
  18. Another tiresome council worker bashing post. Let's see how things go without road maintenance, bin-men, social workers caring for the disabled, elderly and infirm, coroners etc.
  19. Yes, but your new increased premium would still be discounted by the amount of the protected NCB, i.e. Post-write off renewal premium without protected NCB £2000 9 years protected NCB = ~60% premium discount Post-write off renewal premium with protected NCB £800
