  1. Both parties are 2 sides of same coin. We need new 3rd political force with new leadership. If Starmer wins, he will also allow HPI as the UK economy is now dependent on HPI with no manufacturing jobs.
  2. ??? Communists are popular in twitter but failure in elections and government.
  3. I though this forum believes BTL as extreme minority ?
  4. +1 As a cherry on top, communists want to spend other people's money.
  5. House prices will jump again. Its all 2013 again. ? Happy buyers and happy investors.
  6. Did you manage to buy a house (even outside UK) for yourself in all these years away from this site ?
  7. Well said. We're already seeing wars for water. China trying to occupy river paths and trying to control flow of rivers into neighbouring countries.
  8. If its a flat, wait for 6 months. After covid, as work from home numbers are increasing, we may see thousands of people relocating to counties. Try buying a house if you get good bargains. But I think Leeds is better area than Manchester/Liverpool.
  9. Shuold BUT this is UK. You've no idea on what schemes govt might come up with. Tories ALWAYS want more homeowners. We might see FREE 5% deposit from government to HELP FTBs.
  10. Meanwhile more FTBs to stay as renters https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/jun/17/nationwide-triples-minimum-deposit-for-uk-first-time-buyers
  11. Try placing an offer at £200k. The owner might be tempted to accept if he is desperate ?
  12. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/06/15/interest-rates-forecast-hit-zero-bank-england-battles-crisis/ Interest rates forecast to hit zero as Bank of England battles crisis Interest rate swap markets are signalling that rates could fall to zero by August next year
  13. Starmer doesn't have the charisma of Blair. Momentum has damaged Labour's credibility which takes few more years to build before they fight back to No 10. I will be happy if Labour ends up in No 10 without those communists. But if they use Starmer as a shied and end up in government, they might lose next election as White Van Man can't take higher taxes and low productivity economy. Blair wanted David Miliband as his successor. Not sure about Starmer as he hasn't yet made his stand on taxation, anti-semitism, trade with china and some other issues on which he will be pestered by Tories. Remember when David Cameron was leader of opposition, he took a memo from education secretary and tried to blame Labour on it. In less than a minute, Blair fought back with detailed statistics on amount of funding given by New Labour indicating Tories allocated less funding for education compared to New Labour. We need such leaders from Labour who can beat Tories at policies, not a rabble-rouser communist protesting outside the very parliament he was supposed to lead. We need labour leaders with problem solving ability, not just complaining. I voted Labour in the past and happy to do it in future IF they reinvent themselves to why they exist and for whom they exist and what policies they stand up for. Until then, momentum idiots will keep giving Tories term after term. Remember how George Osborne was happy when Corbyn replaced Miliband ? Tories can't even hide their happiness that their luck with Momentum.
  14. Certainly not. Even those who voted New Labour in the past are wary of Momentum and its policies. Without winning such voters, Labour can'r make it to No 10. 10 more years of Tory government until Labour changes for good.
  15. No. Labour has momentum who is still calling shots at policy.
  16. I'm saying Labour is trying to act like they decide who should or should not speak on BAME issues. Labour does NOT have monopoly on ethnic minorities. The communists in Labour abusing Priti as if they are the ones who can decide and frame opinions on such issues. I'm not a fan of Tories. But Labour should stop acting like communists and behave like responsible opposition. Even among ethnic minorities there is always differences of opinion. Labour should send CLEAR message that they support BLM cause but not vandalism. Otherwise some aggressive elements are assuming they can carry out violent behaviour using BLM as an umbrella. I support BLM but not vandalism.
  17. +1 Some of the communists in Labour won't agree with you. Labour should go back to be mainstream party instead of a mere left wing repository of protest. I'm not a supporter of tories but the way Priti Patel was targeted by Labour is unfair. Everybody has the same rights on expressing views or a minister suggesting a policy. Seems Labour is still stuck in Corbyn hangover. They lost places like Harrow which has ethnic minority population in bigger numbers. They haven't yet taken steps to be serious about becoming next government. Blair's seat gone Tory in last election. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/constituencies/E14000878 even a constituency with significant muslim population preferred Tories.
  18. My friend's home in Brentwood had its value drop by 5% for remortgage compared to its 2018 price when he purchased. We will definitely see some drops but not a crash. Market will rebound next year. No need to fall off chair or balcony over this.
  19. Already overpaying 5% every year on my mortgages. Its good to do that instead of sticking on interest only mortgages.
  20. Sedgefield is not going to turn Red anytime soon. Labour needs hard lesson as usual to get their act together. The prospect of a Labour government raising taxes itself scares many voters in marginal seats. They've lost credibility for many years. I resisted the urge to vote Tory last time as I couldn't stand Corbyn. So voted SNP. Atleast they did well in Scotland.
  21. Nah, even with 30% discounts, they can't buy with 5% deposit https://www.moneywise.co.uk/news/2020-06-09/lenders-pull-first-time-buyer-mortgages-again Why are lenders pulling mortgages? Lots of lenders have had to stop working on mortgages because of staffing issues as a result of the pandemic. Banks and building societies have also had to shift resources because of the volume of calls from borrowers looking to take out a mortgage holiday. So those FTBs in their 30s will be pushed few more years to wait for HPC. But even with 30% drop, they can't buy unless they've bigger deposit which is difficult with current job market. So wheel will rotate again and HTB will be unleashed again with smaller deposits and market starts moving. Until then, most of sellers will sit tight on properties instead of offering any salivating discounts. Nobody wants to lose their money.
