  1. It’s great when a landlord uses the whole ‘if you can’t afford it then move somewhere else’ line. The same guy who’s borrowed a dump load of money to get into the racket and moans like hell when a tax break is partially removed. If you can’t afford it pal then do something else’ (truth being you never could afford it).
  2. For context, their Twitter fees which automatically tweets every story has 13.3k followers and I doubt everyone of those is clicking on every story judging by the amount of comments that are generated (hardly any ever on twitter, the same five or six people on 118).
  3. Sorry I don’t think it’s worth discussing such a ridiculous suggestion any further. Good luck finding someone to take your bet.
  4. So if he wins you pay $1350 but if you win he pays you $21000?
  5. Coverage in the guardian too... https://www.theguardian.com/society/2018/jun/25/home-ownership-out-of-reach-for-2-million-uk-families-says-thinktank
  6. I think he’s probably more representative of ‘utter pillocks’ than your average portfolio landlord.
  7. I see, so you went for saying the same thing 28 different ways instead of 14 but still nothing on topic. Maybe start a thread where you can make ‘the point’ over and over on topic. You could call it ‘The Big Gordon Brown/2008 Point Thread’.
  8. I don’t think saying the same thing 14 different ways is going to make your posts any more on topic. Have you got any examples of landlords heading for the exit or what?
  9. That’s a good point. You can open one with a quid so worth doing that now whilst you make up your mind so the year is ticking down.
  10. ^^^ Stark manipulation in gold and silver, both trying to break out again and failing. I need to understand the mechanism for this more but I can certainly see why it would mean a quick run up once it finally happens.
  11. To be expected really but it’s cool. We know what’s happening. We’ve got the direction of travel. Annual change reducing.
  12. I would say a LISA would be preferable if you’re only signing up now. There is no monthly limit on a LISA just a yearly one of £4000 (as opposed to £2400 in the HTB ISA). LISA bonuses get paid monthly not yearly too, and can actually be put towards buying the house as opposed to being given to you afterwards (I think). Find a HTB/LISA comparison and have a look.
  13. Beats the hell out of the Skipton Lisa although, you know, there is the whole 25% thing so not bad.
  14. Good. As I said, neither have I. Difference being I’m not going to start going on about earthquakes for some bizarre reason.
  15. I’ve merely stated my desired outcome on something that effects us all, just the same as you did. Have you prayed that there won’t be a natural distaster or used pentagrams and all the other nonsense you’re prattling on about? (Please don’t answer that, it’s nonsense, as I said).
  16. No, I have not tried praying to a fictitious god about a hypothetical 'investment'. I don't really know why I would do that or what it would entail.
  17. I meant your 'investment'. I really hope that goes wrong.
  18. I absolutely love that he’s doubled down on his stupidity to the extent that he’s still trying to occupy some intellectual high ground. Credit to him for not just ignoring the fact he just got so owned. What a plonker. Mind you, this is the guy who’s always claimed to be unaffected by S24 and in fact will benefit from being able to raise rents in line with those that have to... yet remains one of the few remaining vocal opponents on the site. I believe you pal.
  19. Pretty desperate stuff from RLA and 118. Here’s a link to the article which I think I’d ordinarily spare us but it’s worth taking a look for the kind of considered disagreement in the comments that’s not usually tolerated on that website. Sequence of comments too long to quote, sorry... https://www.property118.com/section-24-hits-armed-service-men-women/
