  1. Duh. Merv is the man who said they wouldn't bail out Northern Rock, and claims to be targetting 2% inflation. The man's a pathological liar. And you think his promises are worth something? Want to buy a bridge?
  2. He was right for the wrong reasons. Now that we know that they have fiddled the real 2.5% figure. It comes to between 26% and 27%. Still not fast enough IMHO. Can't we sack Merv for refusing to do his overpaid one day a month job?
  3. Simple. They don't need to help, just stop harming. Get rid of stamp duty - paying a year's salary for permission from some bureaucrat to move home is obscene. Equalise taxes for BTL and working (I'd prefer workers' taxes to be brought down to BTL levels, but I don't know if we can afford it just yet). of course this ignoring the mistake in the premise that the government would actually try and help anyone - they mostly have tax-payer funded BTL empires themselves.
  4. I can't say I follow your reasoning, but you're welcome any time! Try not to dig up the tomatoes.
  5. Where? I need a nice convertible for the summer...
  6. The roads should become a bit better now that petrol prices are up and everyone's getting poorer. If we build more towns up North it will just encourage more fat slackers to live on benefits / government jobs. Plus they won't need much heating in the balmy South so it's better for the world. Seriously, why are you against the Eco towns? Got something against cuddly polar bears and the rain forest?
  7. Dear Nimby Scum, Yes. Sounds fine to me. If it's going to be built in the the seventh best area in England (for a minute there you sounded as if you thought we should build where people don't want to live). Of course there's no community there, they haven't built it yet. So, your only potentially valid criticism is that you think the houses might not be high enough quality for me. Well that's fine too. We can move some benefits chavs from prime central london there, freeing up a nice house for me here. AND do good for the environment!
  8. Huge bids for the horribl flats in Chiswick and slightly nicer ones in Putney, but no sales. What does it mean? The sellers think they can get more somewhere else?
  9. I'm sick of reading this bankers are parasites stuff on here. Did you guys learn Biology at a State school or something? P R E D A T O R S Look it up.
  10. You do realize that the protesters at Lidlington are nimby scum don't you? The reason why homes are unaffordable are because there aren't enough of them. The reason why there aren't enough of them is because of selfish idiots like these people.
  11. Before the communists on this board get all triumphant, I should just point out that it's the Unions' fault that we're in this mess in the first place. They financed the Laboouor party who have caused the high house prices and economic collapse.
  12. Some inbred public sector workers on the coast somewhere. Do you want us to find their names and addresses so you can give them a good kicking?
  13. I think they'll spend as much as they can get regardless (taxes already up an inflation-adjusted 50%). So saving money through tax avoidance won't increase taxes on anyone else. If they weren't awash with cash, do you really think they would be throwing away £500,000 on some scrounger? No, they'd save it for more important things like 60% pay rises for themselves.
  14. Alexw, you have completely missed the point. The initial poster was complaining about the half a million wasted on some scrounger. Tax avoidance is good, if you avoid £500,000 in tax then that's one house gone from the scroungers, or one or two fewer public sector bureaucrats for a year. Plus the shopping is cheaper for the non-scroungers, it's a win all round. Even better now there's some wars going on. Instead of giving blood (ouch), you can save lives simply through tax avoidance.
  15. No thanks (unless you are a really sexy female). There is a really generous minimum wage in this country - easily enough to live on if you didn't have to subsidise the scroungers and if you could get a house without having to also pay for a scrounger to live in a better house than yours.
  16. I think this is because the complainers are decent people, not scum.
  17. The scummy parasites at the Museum of London were out with their placards yesterday. What do we want? More taxpayers money. When do we want it? Now. Why don't they just get another job if they want more money? If they're deadset on continuing to bore schoolchildren then they can always become teachers, LOADSAMONEY.
  18. Rent has gone up around 12% too. (Ministry of the bleedin obvious)
  19. Since taxes have gone up by more than 50% (inflation adjusted) under Labour, it doesn't need a financial genius to calculate that they can afford to abolish stamp duty. Thousands of pounds for a stamp!? What's wrong with you humans?
  20. Probably the worst insult you could give to someone from the Hitler youth. I hope he does sue, would serve you right!
  21. It's "radix malorum est cupiditas". For those of you from State schools, this translates to: the root of evil is the love of money.
  22. Nameplates for the office doors of the other tax abusers?
  23. I think Gordon Brown and Tony Blair made over a million pounds each this year. The scheme has worked out quite well for some already, and in the long run more poor left-wingers in the country will help Labours core vote.
