  1. Have you got that plugin that was mentioned here a while ago? Replaces some of the BS in estate agents write ups
  2. So blind to their own good fortune and the problems they cause. Using 1/6th of a family house... FFS!
  3. My pre boomer nana, who was definitely not one for excess consumption*, insisted in staying in her 3 bed house despite repeated attempts to move her after many accidents and misshaps involving the steps etc. In the end the stairs were the death of her... * she had the war mentality
  4. 6.1% in Calderdale. Everything is up 3% except Police & Crime Commissioner which is up 7.9%!
  5. You could copy/paste this article in to the Mash and it wouldn't look out of place.
  6. Doesn't really outline the dates very well. Stuff thrown out on Friday, eviction carried out by sheriff on Wednesday... was that before or after the stuff was chucked? If its after then they should have moved their stuff. If they hadn't, then I'd assume the LL can, else they'd just be able to leave it all there indefinitely?
  7. Except when your arseclown neighbor fills the bin for the entire street with a chopped up sofa+chairs and some bricks and no one else can get theirs in (happened in a flat I rented)
  8. Bit of hysteria over diesel taxes at the moment, yet none of them apply to old cars. The change in VED is for new diesel cars, it doesn't increase the tax on older diesels. There doesn't seem to be any moves towards hiking the tax on old cars or jacking up the tax on diesel fuel - I think to do so after so many years of encouraging diesel would be politically foolish. The one that could start to hit older diesels, finally, is a ban from city centres. Disclaimer: proud owner of a 2004 vintage diesel with no DPF nonsense - no nonsense diesel clatter and 50+mpg
  9. Once either my body or mind start to go, I'll make provisions and take myself out. I'd rather go knowing who I am and able to wipe my own **** than getting a miserable 5-10 years dribbling with my loved ones watching on with pity in their eyes. Hopefully Dignitas, by the time I'm old, will be accepted and more widespread.
  10. Isn't going to work when half the voters get their CT paid.
  11. Thankfully crazy house prices have saved me, I'm in a band B with cash in the bank instead.
  12. Simplified: Not enough of them in comparison to the retired folk, as well as the generally higher cost of living (housing) and lower levels of pay. Certain sectors having overly generous pension promises made in a time where things were very different (ratios of earners:retired much lower, lower costs of housing etc). Oh and lets not forget the massive benefits bill for other working age but not working peoples - a massive and ever increasing group!
  13. Go back through the thread and there are a lot more clues as to his location than this, which really just says 'oop norf nowhere posh'. We already know that... he's quite open about it
  14. Closest I've been is a Booths. Their croissants were nearly as nice as Lidl's (assuming you get Lidl's just out of the warmer/oven). My nearest Waitrose may be Harrogate or somewhere posh like that
  15. Doesn't need to be a threat. Sounds like your LL is reasonable, if she said no just say fine and carry on
  16. "No actually it looks a bit high compared to other, bigger, properties in the area. Please can you reduce it x%?"
  17. But but... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-29/corbyn-s-2017-electoral-youthquake-didn-t-happen-study-finds How can its cause be determined if it didn't happen? I'm confused
  18. Why's this in sub forum and not the main one?
