  1. I'd sooner have this for the same money. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-39197528.html?premiumA=true Much better value. Cornwall is an austere place to live and the weather is awful. These places near Poole and Sandbanks have pretty much dropped in half since the peak. BTW, Was the £510,000 paid before spending millions poncing it up?
  2. Just checked sold prices on Zoopla. http://www.zoopla.co.uk/house-prices/wiltshire/swindon/brunel-crescent/?sold_price_years=all&pn=1 Wow, loads resold at big losses.
  3. Anybody solely blaming this on Osborne is showing political immaturity. All politicians are as bad as one another. I think a country runs despite the so called political management and can normally cope with political meddling. It's just got to a point now where the economy is so weak, political meddling is very noticeable. We're heading for the only possible outcome, both here in Europe and the States. Default. Then we can have the revolution and kick this stupid country back into shape.
  4. Cyprus will need a bailout soon, but apparently have been a bit naughty with Russian money, so Germany not keen. This may be the catalyst that could kill the Euro.
  5. 40 miles radius both around Telford and Lincoln (don't ask). Just checking detached up to 200k with 3/4 beds. Loads coming on at delusional prices. After a few weeks prices drop and continue to do so. Quite a few SSTC becoming available. Some SSTC when first advertised???? Very few going SSTC with what looks like genuine reductions after a few months, although great risk of becoming available again. Checking Zoopla shows a lot that is taken off the market and then put back on. Lots of cheap(er) detached in a corridor above Birmingham including Nottingham, Mansfield, Lincoln and up to Hull. You can get a nice modern house for 140k. Lots have 'no chain'???? and some repossessions (taped). I see my local auction house (West Country Auctions) has given up in Redruth and Plymouth, with only the Exeter auctions covering the south west. Shame, I used to find it good free entertainment watching people throw hundreds of thousands away on junk.
  6. Extract form http://www.lovemoney.com/news/savings-investments-pensions/savings/19115/governor-money-to-close-service?source=1000550 Governor Money to close service Quote, "However, it has struggled to secure decent products in recent months. It says: “Unfortunately we have a scarcity of products to offer on the platform which, in the long term, goes against our original commitment to provide a range of products to choose from in order to get the best return for our customers.” Governor has blamed the Government’s Funding For Lending scheme, designed to kickstart mortgage lending, for its decision to wind down its service. Savings rates have plummeted in recent months as banks and building societies don’t need so much cash coming in from savers to lend to mortgage customers." The government are wrecking decent folks' savings and finances. They should stop meddling and let free market forces prevail.
  7. Doing the correct thing, as advised by Baker, would only be unpopular with a relatively small number of people, the one's who created this mess with their lack of self discipline and are deep in debt, which at present has become everybody's problem. He talks logical sense, so he'll fail in politics (and banking, probably). He'd probably make a good engineer. You can't build bridges with BS.
  8. Agreed, and with houseprices.co.uk I could list sales for an area in chronological order, and then compare sale numbers per month with previous years. I haven't found a way to do that at Zoopla. Although, I do like their previous purchase price(s) and previous sales details features.
  9. Surely GDP is meaningless now. QE and mega-borrowing gets rowed into the equation, and that is not genuine growth.
  10. http://rt.com/programs/keiser-report/ Have a look at several of his latest reports.
  11. Max Keiser is predicting a bond market collapse and I heard the same from other sources in the media. What would happen to house prices? Would a bond market collapse ramp up interest rates, for example, as that would drive prices down? Any thoughts?
  12. You say, buy the right house, but there is surely an element of luck. I can add to the list. New roof, leaking taps, gas checks, exploding consumer unit.
  13. What warranty do they have? I know a guy whose Zafira was 13 months old and the clutch failed. Vauxhall quoted 1100 GBP to fix and are not interested in paying for or part paying for the repair. Vauxhall claim it is the way the vehicle was driven.
  14. Anyone know how many/ what percentage of Census Forms that were not returned? From an article on Newsnight before the Census deadline, 7 million were still outstanding. Any large number would slew the results, and were there no returns from certain groups/ ethnic minorities?
  15. This Autumn statement suggests the economy is under control and stable, but surely relies on the status quo created by QE. How much longer can they QE? Surely, when QE is exhausted, the interest rates will have to significantly increase, and this will change the situation totally.
  16. 100,000 affordable homes? What are these, private purchase or council houses, and what's the betting I won't be able to get one?
  17. I give this thing another 6 months. QE is already becoming 'difficult' and without that, interest rates will go up. That will force house prices down, as well as cause all sorts of problems. You can only fiddle with the laws of free enterprise for so long, and a system based on so much debt is unsustainable. What's happening to house prices in Greece, BTW? I keep hearing about the collapse in Ireland and Spain, but not Greece.
  18. The average price is £158,426. The average wage is £25,000. So I make the price/earnings ratio as 6.34, not the Halifax value of 4.22. Or do they take the average wage of those obtaining a mortgage?
  19. Don't all the foreigners in London club together as a family to buy a property?
  20. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36717500.html?premiumA=true According to the latest advert, the EA states that, ***AUTUMN SALE*** REDUCED ONE WEEK ONLY 5TH-12TH NOV REDUCED FROM ORIGINAL MARKETING PRICE OF £215,000 TO £195,000, yet ProperytBee information below shows the price has dropped several times from the initial price of £215,000. The actual drop when this latest advert was placed was £199,500 £195,000. Does this give you the impression that for one week only, the price has dropped from £215,000 and not from £199,500? 04 November 2012 12:56:45 am Brief Description changed: ***AUTUMN SALE*** REDUCED ONE WEEK ONLY 5TH-12TH NOV REDUCED FROM ORIGINAL MARKETING PRICE OF £215,000 TO £195,000 CALL TO VIEW 01905 772084 A well presented modern detached property situated in a cul-de-sac position and briefly comprises to the ground floor entrance hall, cloakroom/utility, dining room, breakfast kitchen, sitting room and conservatory whilst to the first floor the master bedroom benefits from en-suite facility, two f... di...
