A mothers perception of love and that of the baby may differ. They may be experiencing two diferent sensations. A touch, kiss or look can all be misinterpreted, as can words and their precise intention. Transfering thoughts from one consciousness to another is not precise.

If there was only one human being left alive would it not be possible for him/her to form an abstract idea? Would he need another consciousness to do it?

You cannot detach the concept of joy from the consciousness that created it. No 2 peoples concept of joy can be identical. Only language adequately allows the transmission of the concept from one brain to another. Everything points to the fact that the concept cannot exist without the brain and that it has a physicalilty.

I think you're giving the governement too much credit. If the governement was this competent then we wouldn't be in the mess we're in. But yes some of it is government manipulation, and to be fair some of it is having the desired effect of plugging the dam. The rest of the country and world is not curling up and waiting to die. They're still going out everyday trying to make money. Everyone is putting a spin on their product or service and therefore to some small degree playing a part in manipulating a bounce.

Last Week Ftse Fell Almost 3%
Grizzly Adams replied to arsenal20's topic in House prices and the economy
Remember he is famous for talking in larger timescales though. To him a 2, 3 or even 10 year downward trend is only a brief stall. -

It's more likely to drop a few humdred points this week than go the other way. -

J C B Workers Agree To £50 Per Week Pay Cut.
Grizzly Adams replied to Bruce Banner's topic in House prices and the economy
Maybe they will ask for a payout. Who knows? I doubt it though. More likely someone will take over the brand if it gets that serious. As for suggesting that they're wasting their time, maybe they are in the long run. But in reality people don't just give up. God luck to them. It's this waste of space that should give up and stop wasting everybodys time. I think its highly likely that these public workers jobs will be gone in 18 months anyway http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/M...dustrial_Action -
October isn't a good month after all.

Bbc Rubs Noses In It
Grizzly Adams replied to The Masked Tulip's topic in House prices and the economy
At worst the bankers have behaved like drug pushers. But the BBC? Come on. -
Bbc Rubs Noses In It
Grizzly Adams replied to The Masked Tulip's topic in House prices and the economy
Maybe. There is no single entity or individual truly responsible for the mess we're in now. A lot of things had to come together to cause this mess. But its basically myopia and greed. -
Bbc Rubs Noses In It
Grizzly Adams replied to The Masked Tulip's topic in House prices and the economy
The whole thing is a feedback loop. The more the property sector increased, the more the publics appetite, the more got made. I hardly think you can blame the BBC, they didn't start it. What about the US, where does the BBC fit in there? If you're looking for a scapegoat then the BBC is a good as any. -
Itv To Cut 400 Jobs As Cost Cutting Exercise
Grizzly Adams replied to guitarman001's topic in House prices and the economy
The media is going to suffer just like any other sector. It now relies on advertising revenues, which of course are down. ITV was involved in the last fiasco in 2001, when their digital service collapsed. Having said that prior to this the 90's recession meant more work for most. In a simplistic way, something to do with people watching more TV and not going out I suppose. Ratings up etc. Not so sure this time though. There's more players in the market now and the ratings and hence revenues just aren't there anymore. Stepping back and looking at it objectively the future of TV is not so certain. Who knows what will happen. The BBC are trying to sell everything they have, mainly (in my opinion) to reduce their incredible number of employees. -
Good God Man! How often are you shaving?? Shave less frequently. By my calculations you could get through 1 razor every 18.5 years.
