montesquieu
The question is how did it make £450k in the first place? It's cramped, a tiny plot, and the village is nothing special, in the middle of nowhere. Edited September 23, 2014 by montesquieu

Just lookes at a house in Berkshire in a 1/2 acre plot which is less psf than that.

Jule
For 645K you could buy TWO studios/flats in Kensington. Quite honestly If I had the choice....I'd go for Kensington. I've lived there, at least it's exciting and not at the end of the world. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-45239542.html, overpriced in any case, but....great location! "Only 330K"! Jule

long time lurking
You would need to be certifiable to pay those prices. Would agree ,it baffles me where the money is coming from in this part of the country to support these prices

Son of Taeper
New builds tend to ask a premium. That said, I guess we are looking at chalk and cheese. Need to get real and ask why anyone would pay £1 million for a flat in Mayfair when they could buy a property in Calcutta for the price of a few tins of beer and a copy of yesterdays Mail on Sunday. Some parts of Wales are hotspots imo, afraid I do not include Swansea in that but that is just my view. Ask yourselves what the attraction is if buying to live.
