Pretty Deadful Songs

Recommended Posts

We all know about The Birdie Song, St Winifred's school choir, or Joe Joe Dolce, but how about these colossal windbags...

SInce you are not far up the road from me, you can all hear my appalling record collection for nothing!

Superman is a bit of fun. Seems to go down well at parties. A bit like the Okey Cokey!

I wouldn't have said that the Stefan Denis one was all that bad.

This is easily the worst song ever made.

Didn't Vanilla "play" live once, but had to get off stage as the audience wouldn't stop in pelting them in piss?

Not sure about that. However Wiki has this:

The band members consisted of sisters Frances Potter (born 17 October 1974, London) and Alison Potter (born 29 January 1980, London) plus two friends Alida Swart (born 1975[1]) and Sharon Selby. The group were managed by Greg Boraman.

They released just two singles for EMI in the late 1990s.

The first single was "No Way No Way", released on 15 December 1997 and reached number 14 in the UK Singles Chart. The accompanying music video was filmed at Brockwell lido in Brixton.[2] It was based on Piero Umiliani's "Mah Nà Mah Nà",[2] and was featured on several compilations including Now That's What I Call Music!'s thirty-ninth issue and Dancemania's eighth issue both released in 1998.[3]

The follow-up was "True to Us", released on 6 April 1998 and rose to number 36 on the UK Top 40.[2]

Although initially mocked on Channel 4's morning programme The Big Breakfast, the group regularly took part in the show's "Vanilla's Thrillers" feature. They made various appearances at London's Popshow Party events as well.

The song "No Way No Way" won the dubious title of "Worst Music Video Ever" on the 1997 ITV Chart Show end-of-year special and was voted number 26 on Channel 4's "100 Worst Pop Records".

After only two years record label EMI released the group from their contract.

It got to #14. The mind boggles.

Now that ... is what I call MUSIC!!

Topically enough it sounds like the sort of thing we'd put in as a Eurovision entry. Typifies Britain so nicely.

That "Click here to buy the album now" overlay - LOL

I don't know why I like it, but for some reason it reminds me of the sack of Magdeburg.

But that's just me ...

edit; I'm watching The Warlords with Jet Li so ....

I don't get it, why is this dreadful? I like it!!

Well, you're not alone. It got to #2 in the UK Top 40.

I like cheesy (no pun intended) music but even that's a stretch for me ;)
