Be careful with new that you are being offered the latest model.Recently a customer bought a "New" Focus and in turned out to have been manufactured in early 2010,so it's actually 18 months old.Renault have also been doing it with bargain priced Clios.Poverty spec + a cheap i pod. I know you're trade PoD but speaking as a punter I'm not that worried by degrees of newness. I got loads off a new Astra in 2003, it was the outgoing model, had clearly been hanging about as a bit of rust on the wiper mounts, but otherwise new undriven unregistered and the same price as a year-old one (with a year less warranty as well) in the price guides, that was new enough for me! £13k down to £9.5k IIRC. I look at their website every six months or so but they've never had a deal to match that since.
SarahBell
The man up the road has got a new mobility car. Vauxhall now his wife has slimmed down to a slightly more normal weight. The only new cars on our street are from the mobility scheme.
Frank Hovis
When these cars are parked up for so long with the UK weather its inevitable for them to develop problems. The media are not focusing on how many cars are still parked up now as car manufacturers wont advertise in those media outlets or will reduce the advertising spend. Well it's not inevitable anyway. Mine was fine, drove like new when I got it (as it was!) kept it for seven years and still running fine when I sold it. Just some scrapes from my tactile driving style
Frank Hovis
What car is it? When & Where was it parked up for? Theres a number of stories in the media where car owners who have bought these parked up cars have suffered all sorts of problems, mainly electrical. Some car companies make to order and run low inventories hence the questions. Astra, I would guess parked up for over a year and the obvious place for the West Country is Avonmouth, though PoD may correct me as a man itk. I'm not saying it's as good as a car that has rolled straight out of the factory, but that if you view it as a year-old car with zero miles on it and that nobody has been sitting in for a year breaking the stereo then with sufficient discount it is still a great deal. As I said I had no probs bar an EGR light that a dose of Redex cleared, I've not heard of Astras being subject to electrical problems in general. Unlike Escorts and my previous Escort in particular! Skoda seem to be offering some good finance and discount offers at the moment. Local dealer advertising petrol SE spec octavias for £12.5k. SE is an ok spec and the little 1.2 turbo engine is supposed to be a little gem.

A family member used to transport new cars around the country...a lot of cars are sat around for a fair while before they're sold...There was one instance, whereby a new car was sat in a field for 5 years, put he pulled it out and it was sold as a new car...Apparently they're covered in a protective polish, which stops any damage from happening... Jason
Is the number plate given to a new car when you buy it, or when it is manufactured? Surely a year old car would have a 60 or 10 plate?

Lagarde's Drift
So you dont really know, but yes there are lots of cars parked up as you go over the bridge on your left as you head up to Bristol on the M5. Yes. But I could conceivably believe someone telling me there is a decent turnover. The cars appear to be variously coloured and perhaps a big mix of models so tough to tell if they are the same ones as before.

Haven't all those cars been imported by sea through the docks ? I thought Astras were built at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.
