  1. But it would still cost them 30% more in fuel to get to the supermarked, thats a huge change... Is that not cost of living?? Well done indeed..
  2. Must admit I thought 100K would be about right for that flat where I live too (south east). Still a rip off though....

  4. I'd look like that if I thought my portfolio was goint to halve in value over the next couple of years...
  5. Let the BBC know, they might.... not. I voted 40% btw.
  6. At least it's a roof over your head.., and breakfast
  7. Right, I've had a few beer's so here goes.. I'm 30. My username kind of gives away my line of work and I would concider myself to be on an "avarage" salary. I support myself, my partner and 2 year old girl. My partner is a registered childminder and she earns probably just about enough to pay the council tax and utility bills. (It's probably not worth her working but she enjoys it and we get tax credits for her effort.) We have been together for about 4 years now, living together for about 3 years. We are currenly renting a 2 bedroom semi with garage from an agent and are on periodic tennancy (?), as we are refusing to sign another 6 month contract because we intend to move to my partners parents house when they emmigrate to france in april.. (not going to pay last month's rent, the place is in better condition than when we moved in !). I found HPC a few months back and have been lurking and learning, adding a few comments here and there. I have never really looked at owning a home much before now, but now I am looking, it seems we are in the middle of the "biggest bubble in history" !!!! I would just like to thank all at HPC for the amount of knowledge I have learned is incredible.. I knew nothing of inflation, intererst rates, markets, booms and busts, the government, vested interests, spin by the media, etc etc.. I really am thick joe public, but I truely believe HPC has saved me a few tens on thousands of pounds just from a quick search on google afew months back.. I doubt if most like me would even bother researching before commiting themselves to a 25 year debt. I'm now gonna wait this one out. Nice cheap rent from the in-laws and no pressure to buy. Special thank's to DrBubb. Your posts are inspiring. Oh and as for the riot, no thanks, but I would be up for a protest...
  8. Thats hardly "close to" the M1, my rented house is within stone throwing distance from the M2, doubt it makes much difference to the price...
  9. words by sydney youngblood (80's) "all we can do is sit and wait yeh yeh..."
  10. wehey mines there too Added: Saturday, 28 January, 2006, 21:48 GMT 21:48 UK I see lots of typical baby boomer responces here. So, us youngsters want too much do we, are you sure its not the older generations that "expect too much".... They have not done anything for their home's equity, it's been pure luck, hope you havent spent it all on 4x4's and holiday homes because it will need to be payed back one day. Tax the BTL brigade and build more affordable housing... dan, medway Recommended by 12 people
  11. My tennancy agreement through an agent states that :- "The Landlord's Agent holds the Deposit as Agent for the Landlord. The deposit to be a minimum of one month's rent, unless otherwise agreed. No interest is paid to either the Landlord or Tenant on deposit monies held." So I guess all interest goes to the agent in my case.
  12. What a nasty greedy woman... Perhaps someone should guide her to this thread.
  13. yeh, especially one with squaters living there. (where is it? )
  14. I agree, Those that bought mid 2004 don't appear to have done much research before commiting themselves to the biggest investment they will probably make. They probably have no interest in the wealth of knowledge on the internet therefore would never find this site. (I'm sure glad I did - still happy renting and saving )
  15. "The property is currently under construction and will be wind and water tight before sale completion" lovely
  16. What's wrong with renting if they are really driving you mad..? My rental costs would not even cover the interest on a mortgage if I were to buy the house I live in at the moment. It makes sense to rent at the moment IMO.
  17. Right click link and copy into windows media player, that's how I got it working.. As I'm a HPC newbie it's the first time I've seen that video. That woman (kirsty) is a complete fruit loop.... Thank's for that, it's brightened my day considerably..
