  1. While the income multiplier may be much higher for those on lower incomes, the affordability measures have a much greater impact. The lower your income the less they will lend as your essential bills take up a much larger portion of your income. Whereas multiples restriction for higher lenders is the only way to go as regular outgoings have little or no effect.
  2. There is an easy solution to this. We hold a vote on who needs to die. Anyone with more than say 1000 votes is shot. The alternative is too let the government decide by declaring war on someone, if it is Russia then house demand/prices will be the last thing on anyone's mind.
  3. Given this map not only the ones directly over the lateral points will be screwed, everyone else will be as it will screw up the water table which will effect a much large area.
  4. Fairly sure he won't go hungry though. If he was a bit hard up he could write a no holds barred book, well from his perspective. He wouldn't off course put anything in that would land his own self in trouble, helps to be a barrister in this respect.
  5. Okay there is a misunderstanding here, you can do the work but it has to be certified by someone who is registered. While that may not make much difference to you as a tradesman, it makes a world of difference to someone such as myself who understands wiring. I rewired my whole house and then had it inspected, much cheaper.
  6. I think the media is having an influence just not the one they wanted, the anti-UKIP articles have actually in my opinion gained UKIP votes. The sound bites today and over the weekend after the elections are highlighting how much a fantasy land the other parties are in. Nick Clegg and the liberal democrats are dead men walking as far as the electorate goes, they blatantly lied to their core electorate before the last general election. The electorate may put up with half-truths and weasel words, but when you do the exact opposite of what you have said then it will bite you on the ass.
  7. Would this be the same listening that they have been doing for ever. They may listen but they do what they want, while lying to the populace to make it seem their actions are for the greater good. Some of Cameron's comments show how much he isn't listening. I don't want more divide and conquer politics, while the only people you really care about are the rich. I see the report into the state of government programmes was released on the same day as the elections, another good day to bury bad news. Even with that the state of Universal Credit was excluded from the report and IDS is still lying about it.
  8. Given the recent issues of USA alphabet police putting back doors and weaknesses into existing systems, would you really trust any digital solution. There have already been problems with electronic voting booths.
  9. I won't be watching. I sometimes do and then remember the questioners are not putting their own questions and the BBC knows what all the questions are and vets them before hand. With Kirsty Allsop on I would need a new TV tomorrow.
  10. Tried to vote but apparently I have dropped of the electoral register despite sending back the forms every time they send them out which is a lot. Rang the electoral office to be told they hadn't had the forms back for about a year, before which I was on electoral register. I asked why I was dropped of when the legislation to cover this states no response for 2 years, they had no answer. Doesn't stop them sending my council tax demand every year though. Our electoral system is open to massive fraud with lots of dodgy things going on. Folded ballot papers, parties with a similar name at the top of the form, postal voting, being dropped from the electoral register, votes in pencil, etc. Voting forms should be clear and concise, voting should be done in pen. Next it will be electronic voting booths or online voting, then we really will be in trouble.
  11. Don't go posting facts, that would be too much like common sense. People can discuss the veracity of the stats, but to disprove them would require another set of stats that are more trustworthy.
  12. Still maintain that when a politician lies or gives a weasley answer the interview should be ended abruptly. John should have followed it up with "when are you going to publish your tax returns, like you promised ?" Starve them of publicity by stopping them getting the lies out.
  13. Somebody with the money could buy both, either join them together or knock both down and build something better.
  14. What the ****** where they thinking. How are you going to paint between the houses or even just maintain the property. They might as well have made them semi-detached. Anyone that buys these monstrosities is an idiot. Checked the rightmove link, how disappointed are you going to be when you go to view and realize the picture is of two houses not one.
  15. Blah Blah Blah interest rates. Actions not words are what count. Having said this the banks are going to have one hell of a problem, the banks have been raising mortgage rates despite the base rate stating that they aren't linked it is Libor that counts. To the sheeple who will have only heard what they want too, they will have heard "BOE rate means nothing to you unless you are on a base rate tracker". The screams of anguish are going to be deafening. Those on a tracker will be in squeaky bum territory if this all kicks off.
  16. I think Scottish independence would have more effect than leaving the UK. It could highlight the massive democratic deficit in the rest of the UK if Scotland thrives.
  17. Clegg's an idiot, he is being played by his coalition partners. If HTB was pared back and it goes horribly wrong or there are some other disastrous unforeseen consequences, Cameron will lay the blame on Clegg. If by some miracle it works, Cameron will claim it was his idea and implemented by his government. Either way Clegg looks stupid and his party will be even more upset with him. At this point the Liberals Democrats need to withdraw from the coalition, no point staying in as not much will get done over the next year. They then need to lie their through their teeth to try and retain some of their vote at the next general election. What I expect will happen is they will implode after the European elections and the party will fade away.
  18. Have things gone wrong in the past you betcha, would these things have still happened if childcare had been privatized at the time absolutely. There is evidence that organisations both public and private where infiltrated by sex offenders and were in some cases quite organized. At the time these things were swept under the carpet. Look at the cases of sex abuse in private schools, celebrities abusing kids at work while working for ITV.
  19. No I hate him for both. Rich people shouldn't need subsidies. The fact that he is demonizing the poor makes things worse. I would be quite happy for job seekers to be left alone to get on with finding a job, I don't think any of the governments efforts to "help" are of any use. We could save a whole lot of money by not trying. The unemployed as stated before are a minute fraction of the benefit spend. Even more so when you realise that housing benefit doesn't really benefit the unemployed but their landlords.
  20. If people think privatizing this service is a good idea then there is no hope. This is one of a few areas where profit should not be involved.
  21. This same old ploy again, demonize those on benefits to scare the rest into obeying the state. As others have said IDS can ****** off, his family are raking in subsidies for nothing more than owning land.
  22. How about another take on this for student debt. The UK government recently sold on the debt book for by some accounts 10% of its value. Should the debtors not have been given the option to pay their debt first at this ratio. If you then don't pay what loss has the new company actually incurred. Is there somewhere in the loan agreement that allows a company to sell on your obligation. I don't agree with people trying to wriggle out of their debts, but I have stronger feelings that out current banking system is wrong. It is run by members of a very select social group. It is not an industry where a newcomer has much hope. In fact those in the market already will use every trick in the book to prevent anyone else threatening their position. What did they actually do to get the license to print money ?
  23. It was the wrong location for the type of shop, that type of shop now has to contend with the big supermarkets. Things have moved on since 1881. If they had massive footfall past the shop, hey would have been better having a little cafe selling reasonably priced food and snacks. Yes your trade might be very seasonal, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing as you work like stink through the summer and scale back in autumn/winter. The money yo be made in serving tea/coffee can be enormous. However it looks to me like they were is serious difficulty anyway, this won't have been helped by expensive rent/rates, lack of parking or debts. Also to be noted running a cafe is not an easy business, the bank will keep pressuring you to lower quality of ingredients or raise prices to maximize profit but this will lead to declining customer base.
  24. The reason we don't have a simple tax system is so those in the know can abuse the loopholes. I still find it hilarious when certain MP's are haranguing others when either they or their family use the same dodges. Cameron could address this by having all MP's tax affairs made public, won't happen as the general population would be annoyed. MP's are the ones who set the rules, don't want people avoiding tax then make it simple and clear cut. Until you do don't criticize.
