  1. He is also in talks with the York-based Joseph Rowntree Trust about creating shared equity deals for the flats. Good idea, go straight to the housing association - let them take the risk! They can find some tenants as well. You do accept DHSS? "I have 120 flats that I rent out and the demand has never been greater''. He is a residential developer right, he used to sell properties - maybe this means he has got 120 he can't shift? Still, he must be proud of himself now that he's got the Lifetime Contribution Award.
  2. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news...oads.3548203.jp Yorkshire Evening Post tonight really laying into developers for ruining Leeds city centre (bit late though!) Read lower down 'if you bought an apartment after 2005 you are one of the 4,000 who will lose money' Ooops! And the rest?
  3. OK Hardman, you've got 7,000 posts so you're the **** of HPC.co.uk. I bet that if somebody did anything like this to you'd never stop squealing for another 7,000! What a hero!
  4. Hey, these guys are a serious company of 'Property Investment Consultants' they have got a web site and everything! Meet the team: http://www.serliana.com/consultancy_team.php They look professional, don't wear ties and have names like Danny, Lucy, Will and Jamie - I suppose they are 'old school' Yorkshiremen who you can trust with your money!
  5. Bloody hell, well I never you couldn't make it up! Like the (no prompting) tag, that reassures everybody! Poor Britania(sic) Lad - will he join HPC do you think?
  6. Yeh, they must be really worried up on the fourth floor! Hold on I can see him on the balcony. Yes he's putting two fingers up at you! Seriously, are you saying we should stop all future building in Sheffield, Doncaster and Hull etc because they suffered a freak flood? Looks like top floor apartments might be in demand in the future.Don't mention it on here though!
  7. I don't think even hpc's finest can spin this one! That flats are a bad investment because they are built in the flood plain. Nice try anyway!
  8. I didn't see many flats flooded out. Just make sure you don't buy the one on the ground floor.
  9. A couple of songs by steven Morrissey for the HPC hardcore. Please, please let me get what I want this time Good times for a change See, the luck Ive had Can make a good man Turn bad So please please please Let me, let me, let me Let me get what I want This time Havent had a dream in a long time See, the life Ive had Can make a good man bad So for once in my life Let me get what I want Lord knows, it would be the first time Lord knows, it would be the first time Panic - (hang the PM) Panic on the streets of london Panic on the streets of birmingham I wonder to myself Could life ever be sane again ? The leeds side-streets that you slip down I wonder to myself Hopes may rise on the grasmere But honey pie, you're not safe here So you run down To the safety of the town But there's panic on the streets of carlisle Dublin, dundee, humberside I wonder to myself Burn down the disco Hang the blessed dj Because the music that they constantly play It says nothing to me about my life Hang the blessed dj Because the music they constantly play On the leeds side-streets that you slip down Or provincial towns you jog 'round Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj Hang the dj, hang the dj
  10. Yes I did consider opening an account with Icesave too. It's just the thought of getting your money out in an emergency. Northern Rock was bad enough but having to travel to Reykjavik and camp out overnight this winter put me off!
  11. Yeh, get back home Ronaldo you sponger! And come to think of it,that starey eyed foreigner from over the border Ryan Giggs as well!
  12. http://www.maplegardens.co.uk/ Found it on google, microbe - note 'priority registration' now in progress. You may be comparing a 'luxury penthouse' with a 'luxury ground floor' but they are still big flats, but only 2 beds. £150K would seem a generous offer at the moment.
  13. I'm afraid that I don't buy this figure of 20% properties in the Communidad de Madrid being empty!Could you give me some names of these places as I know Madrid quite well and will recognise them. From my experience the property situation there is like London - it is the capital city after all and there is huge demand for property in the city itself. Even in the outskirts prices are high due to good rail links 'the cercanias' and also the Metro Sur opened a few years ago. On top of this there are thousands of immigrants from South America who are more than willing to rent substandard properties. Same goes for Barcelona and Bilbao, though Valencia yes might be overbuilt. So where are these ghost towns?
  14. I disagree with your translation Mark: sellers of flats will have to assume losses if they purchased after 2004. Presumably referring to the HPI throughout Spain in the last few years. Looks like they are in the same barco as us, or even worse as salaries are not that generous in Spain. I am sure that the verb is past tense of comprar(to buy) not comparar(to compare). compré compraste compró compramos comprasteis compraron Have you got any property in Madrid, Mark?
  15. Easy Baz!, As my dad was an Irish navvy and I love the music of the Pogues, I will leave you with Shane MacGowans lyrics: Where ever we go, we celebrate the land that makes us refugees.
  16. Maybe he didn't pay 69K (don't believe all you see on the internet) but paid 60K cash? He's making 100 quid a month and he think's you're a sucker, and he still owns the place after all . Why not present your calculations to him on rent day? Maybe he will lower the rent?
  17. Yeh, the English never remember and the Irish never forget! Let's drink to that Paddy! Don't you think that if there was no British Empire, someone else would have moved in? Do you think the Spanish, French or Prussian empire would have been kinder to the 'oppressed'? In fact most of the countries in the Empire have been given independence. They are now officially free. What happens? Their citizens usually turn up in London dealing drugs, waving machetes and looking for a free council house.
  18. Panic over! I'm surprised that admin can't move or delete these hoax threads. I wonder why not?
  19. Take it easy Lander, I lived during the last recession and frankly things weren't as bad as some HPCers like to imagine. Looking at all your points above, EA's quiet, retailers slashing prices, yellow pages quiet! - those are positive things and don't constitute a recession. When you lose your job come back and complain, I understand it's easy to feel that it's all over after coming to this site . Re: pubs are empty, maybe the brewery should lower the price - beer is 4 times the price of petrol - what that is per barrell I'll leave to the economists on the forum. That is serious news!
  20. Well if you shorted Barrett, looks like you are a turd also. Do they sell shoes or something? Barratt Developments is the name. Sorry but I'm one of those who insist on correct spelling on message boards!
  21. That's an interesting viewpoint to have. Banks will still be here after the crash, and making shed loads of money as usual. That's 100% guaranteed!
  22. By Harry Wallop, Consumer Affairs Correspondent Julia Harris, the mortgage expert at Moneyfacts, said: "It's a bit devious, isn't it?" LOL give it some Wallop, Harry. I take it he does exist and is not one of the HPC back room boys?
  23. Go on, i'm innocent, tell me what non status basis is? Is it like when you lend that p1sshead in the bar £10, cos you always know he's in every night, he's a good lad and you'll get your money back?
  24. Oh I don't know, banks will always want to lend people money. They make a lot of money that way (some are still quite successful). Competition will kick in and you will get banks lending perilously close to the base rate. Call me big nosed but that's the way capitalism is. They are not going to give away their market share just like that!
