The MSE posts people link to on here seem to be troll posts anyway, it's obvious yet subtle, I think there's some evil conspiracy between Martin and Fubra in order to generate more heat than light ;)

This thread in and of itself is an example of that!

Anyway, time to watch my 50" LCD whilst I fill in my bankruptcy papers so I can drive down to the court tomorrow in my MEW'ed 4x4.

They seem to think we all think we are never going to lose our jobs during this recession and that we are gloating.

I'm not sure if I've got that impression from here, it's more along the lines of "the country has borrowed too much, we are all doomed".

If anyone is coming over here from MSE to read this, we are just as scared over here as you are over there!

Actually I think it's the opposite, on here there has always been an awareness of that, and just how bad things could get, hence the reason we were dismissed as a bunch of "doom mongers". Telling people they're aboad the financial Titanic doesn't mean we're the one's responsible for it sinking! If anything it gives them time to prepare the life boats.

"Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" and all that!

Have you not "protected yourself" then?

I don't intend to loose my job, might lose it though.

This guy knows what hes on about

Most people on HPC agree that the current world crisis was caused by banks lending to people who couldn't or wouldn't repay the debt. The first symptom of the resulting problem was a bubble in house prices - hence the existance of HPC as a house price forum.

Consequently, many on HPC have a disdain for banks and people who borrow too much money and don't pay it back. Unfortunately, this disdain sometimes bubbles over into ridicule of debtors who get into difficulties.

I do not find this an attractive thing. Even less attractive though IMO, is the nauseating spectacle of MSE posters calling each other 'Hun' and giving (((hugs))) to f eckless idiots who seem to expect sympathy for running up credit card bills of tens of thousands which they spent on tat.

Where's the thread about the "And I claim my five pounds" gone?

It's all over this site, I do it as well, but I don't see it anywhere else. Are we all 50s throwbacks like Mark Lamarr?

Anyone can lose their job...you then have three options a) look and find another B) Claim the benefits that you are entitled to or c) create your own employment.....it is all down to what skills you have that are needed, where you live, and what effort and training you want to put into trying to overcome and improve the cards in life you have been dealt.

HPC is a curious mix of survivlista conspircay theory NWO lizard people nutjobs and very sensible economic discussion. You take the good and ignore the bad.

I love it :-) I bet that was one of our posters who said that

The evil bank manager... he took me into his back office, whipped it out straight away and made me do it! Up until then I'd never even seen a loan agreement before, I was scared, it looked huge and complicated, so I just did what he said, I stretched my arm out, wrapped it around his tiny pencil... then I shut my eyes and I just signed it, to my eternal shame! emoticons_cry.gif

Please... somebody just 3some.gif me. Please!

You know what I really like about this site the most?

That we have a very healthy contingent of sarcastic, grumpy, malcontented, doom-mongering, bullsh*t-detecting bar-stewards on here

Always a better class of poster in my experience...... ;)

Very British

Edit:

Maybe I'm just describing myself there......
