Jobs In The Paper- Is It The Same In Your Area?
davidhpc replied to a topic in House prices and the economy
Best place to look for work while this current government is in power is public sector, try the NHS website and the DWP website should have some local government jobs. The government has committed to 'investing' our way out of recession, so non-jobs could appear in these areas. If/When tories get in you will probably be sacked and have to sign-on anyway. -
Brown Offers £150 Per Day For Mp's Housing Costs
davidhpc replied to laurejon's topic in House prices and the economy
We've passed that point a long time ago, then they started borrowing it, and now they have started to just print new stuff. -
I think there are a lot of people living on £50 a week after rent, I spend about £50 a week, I've lived on less too. I'm pretty sure she would get council tax paid on that income too. It didn't all ring quite true to me. £50 a week is OK to get by while you are looking for work. She'll know to keep up with the rent next time she gets a job.
-
don't get you. she'll now get her rent paid by housing benefit. obviously when she was working she didn't pay her rent and got in arrears. she got her job anyway at the end but started moaning about the wages. I think you are just sticking up for her because you fancy her. If it was a spotty bloke you would be calling for a cut in his allowance.

she said £15 a week goes on rent arrears, so she didn't pay all the bills.

gordenron needs votes. what's a few more tens of billions on borrowing to get some? after all, we need to 'invest' our way out of recession.

The system seems OK now if expenses were used for expenses incurred being an MP. Things like travel expenses and the like. NOT food, barbecues, bathplugs etc. It would be quite simple to draw up some rules around second homes - Jacqui Smith's main home is obviously the family home in Redditch not her sister's spare room. anyone that can commute to Westminster, like Pickles, should do just that. It is the 'let's-screw-the-system-for-as-much-as-we-can' culture that needs to be gotten rid of. They could look to the private sector for some ideas. It should be seen as unacceptable to bend the rules.

Gordenron will keep digging us deeper and deeper into debt. He cares not about the future of the country, he cares only about buying votes and clinging to power. He will not stop until stopped. The longer he is allowed to continue the harder it will be to pay it all off.

quick search gives 2 beds for £750, so looks like rents are following selling prices downwards.

Inflation Reported As Deflation
davidhpc replied to bogbrush's topic in House prices and the economy
RPIX and CPI are up, if the BoE hadn't dropped rates then RPI would not be 0 either as it's down to lower interest payments on mortgages. it's becoming absurd now. -
Peston's Picks 1) Treasury (ie. gordenron) didn't appreciate risks banks were taking with their wholesale lending arrangements. 2) Treasury (ie. darling) in autumn of 2007 didn't expect houses to fall more than a few% and didn't think there would be a recession. 3) Treasury & FSA didn't think 100%+ mortgages at top of a bubble were risky. Journalists are finally cottoning on to what happened.
