Rational arguments were tried. Over and over and over. What happened? Brexiters didn't care. They doubled down on their lies and to this day the lying continues. Lying is not ok. Especially not when it is to achieve a political agenda based on cult like hatred and directly negatively impacts everyone else. But no, that's not the problem. Me calling someone arrogant on the internet is the problem. Do you have any sense of self awareness to see how screwed up that is?

You can't make up you minds can you? I thought everyone had lost sovereignty because of the EU? Now you're saying they haven't, but still, in the face of this demonstration, you have to perform some staggering mental twisting and continue to blame the EU for now not removing enough sovereignty. You do realise this is how cultists act, right? You have only one central belief and all other views must adapt to that one belief. And also, why do you ******ing care? You've left the EU, how about you stop trying to tell Europeans what is good for them you arrogant ****.

#1. If the EU did not exist, these problems would still exist. And who would you blame then? Their neighbours? Has the UK offered to ease the burden of these states? #2. You're having a laugh. Bolton? Why is it that virtually every time a brexiter posts some opinion piece proclaiming how badly the EU is failing, all I have to do is google the website and I know I'll find it is some sort of far right think tank? Your colours are showing.

It is actually quite surreal how so many things aligned to bring about brexit. Leave the EU was a very minority view prior to 2008. GFC 2008 leads to a fall in living standards Austerity contributes more to this Coincided with high immigration from Eastern Europe - people look for someone to blame - immigrants Migrant crisis peaks across Europe leading up to referendum Immigration figures reveal highest numbers just before the referendum Due to austerity people hate David Cameron, who happens to lead the remain campaign and want to give him a slap Labour gets a useless leader who only half heartedly supports remain Greek crisis allows people to create false narratives about the EU Cummings runs a genius campaign where he commits to nothing and allows everyone to promise everything No particular type of brexit, everything is vague, people can believe what they want Obama (liberal elite apparently) says the wrong thing which probably sways more people towards leave Remain campaign is rubbish - they don't observe that economics isn't going to swing it - they needed to challenge the leave campaign to commit and keep drubbing this in time, and time again. Get the leave campaign to commit to something concrete and I believe this one thing would have swung it for remain. Remain failed massively here Post referendum: Reality hits that the UK does not have all the cards, they won't get a unicorn brexit, but it is too late. A hardcore minority manage to command the narrative that "everyone knew what they were voting for" and apparently that was always hard brexit despite the promises. And because of Cummins campaign, this works. Tories embrace UKIP policies and decimate UKIP while the other parties just fight amongst themselves Corbyn continues to be useless Trump is now president and he can see the UK as a useful tool against the EU And now the pandemic gives brexiters an out - just unbelievable. Many brexiters must be secretly delighted that everything from this point can be blamed on the virus. I've probably missed a lot in there.

Emergency interest rate cut to 0.25%

It has got nothing to do with "working hard". Landlords probably aren't working all that hard. Renters work just as hard as any home owner. The problem is that all the tools they have, either purposefully or as a consequence, favour those with debt. And yes, there is also the political problem where, wrongly, home owners are seen as more important. But either way, we agree on the outcome. It is a rigged game. I learned that lesson the hard way. -
Mass changes to UK immigration requirements

I wonder if I'm a vested interest? I don't think we should be booting human beings out of a place to which they legally moved and contributed. -

Nope, it works out well for people who own debt. The game is rigged, play it accordingly. -

Why would you believe what he says? Why don't you ask for proof? -
I thought you sold to rent last year?

As usual brexiters hold contradictory views comfortably just to keep supporting their central ideology. Here, we see crouch saying the reason GBP is falling is nothing to do with brexit but is because the UK economy is poor. Then, in a different post crouch will say the danger to the UK is (note, not our own economy) but the EU failing because they're in a poor state. So, GBP is falling vs the Euro. Crouch can't make up his mind which way to argue that will best suit the the brexiter ideology, so he simply takes both sides. Nothing new to see here though, same for the entire brexit debate, say whatever you think will make people dislike the EU.

Money is real. It is the unit of accounting for us exchanging labour. You can print more of those units which might change how much people value the units, but in the end only actual real labour pays for something. -

But isn't that the point. We can all post here about how right we were before in 2008/09 when the whole thing was exposed and should have come crashing down. But that does me no good when reality shows me my "idiot" friends who bought in 2004-2007 are all sitting far prettier than I am with their tracker mortgages paying peanuts each month in houses I can no longer afford. I now own a smaller home than these friends who earn (quite significantly) less than I do, just because of the space of about 8 years of choosing not to buy. In a sensible world, the person on the same (real terms) salary would be able to afford the same type of house no matter when you buy, so delaying buying should just be a lifestyle choice, not a financial gamble that leaves you worse off for life. But this isn't a sensible world. It is a rigged game. I was the sucker last time.
