The Big Fed Thread
The Masked Tulip replied to interestrateripoff's topic in House prices and the economy
FYI, US banks stocks were on fire after the Fed minutes came out. I'll let you figure out why. -
According to Fivelive it looks like UKIP is taking a lot of votes in Portsmouth from Labour. A Labour Councillor is on the radio now having a go at Corbyn.

Will never happen due to the geopolitics if the world. We are in the US camp until hell freezes over or until the UK is a failed Islamic state. So, by 2050 then.

Black Swan Coated With Crude Oil
The Masked Tulip replied to rollover's topic in House prices and the economy
USO is at an interesting junction. It could either be about to go very bullish or it is about to get very bearish. There is a train about to leave but it is unsure which direction to go in at the moment. -
Wish I had taken out that DWTI position. Oil futures currently down over 6% - under 38 bucks

Saudis probably went short heavily on oil and on markets last week - probably will make a few billion on Monday. Edit: Was very tempted to go long DWTI on Friday evening but lost my bottle. This oil thing is all about how much the Saudis hate the Persians IMPO - and that hate knows no limits.

FUKUSHIMA earthquake and tsunami thread and aftermath
The Masked Tulip replied to geezer466's topic in Current affairs
The earthquake aftermath footage coming out of Japan is both shocking and amazing to look at. Roads disappeared, buildings collapsed. A dam that they are concerned will burst. A volcano that might now erupt again. Lots of dead people. Goodness know how many people trapped. -
Yep, since about just after the stockmarket bottomed.

Global economy seems dependent upon the whims of a 30 year old Saudi Prince and what he wants to do re the oil price this weekend. Monday will either be a huge spike up day or the start of a crash. Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets.

Black Swan Coated With Crude Oil
The Masked Tulip replied to rollover's topic in House prices and the economy
Seems that an awful lot of people are backing an oil deal in Doha this weekend. The Iranians do not seem to want to play ball and it would seem bizarre for Saudi to agree to any freeze or cuts after getting so close to driving lots of oil companies to the brink. One thing is for sure - come Monday the oil price should soar or crash. Be surprised if it just goes "Blah!". -
Something's up. Extraordinary Fed meeting today followed by Yellen and Obama having a hug and telling us that everything is fine.

Tata Pulling Out Of The Uk "the End Game"
The Masked Tulip replied to workingpoor's topic in House prices and the economy
Apparently changing the name from 'TATA' to 'British Steel' will solve all the problems. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? -
Don't forget, years ago wikileaks said that they had CDs of data of rich people who had been allegedly hiding money, IIRC, in some European banks and they were going to release it bit by bit. Then that guy got holed up in that embassy and I don't recall hearing anything about these names and their financial info being published.

Tata Pulling Out Of The Uk "the End Game"
The Masked Tulip replied to workingpoor's topic in House prices and the economy
Everything is sorted. The Welsh Assembly had a meeting all day today and ended up offering a grant of 30 million and a loan of 30 million. Not really playing with the big boys are they? -
Yes, but there must have been plenty of Soviet Union military, KGB, etc, just slush funds around at the time that just disappeared. In some way I don't blame some of them - they saw their country disintergrating around them. It probably was everyone for themselves. On the the other hand, any money like that could have aided the people who went through terrible times.
-
I think the interesting thing re Putin is that this leak alleges that he and his mates took KGB Communist Party money to set all this up - presumably there were lots of Communists Party accounts/funds around at the time when the USSR was imploding and hence, if true, that would be money belonging to the people of Russia?

Iranians refusing to freeze production - that can't be good for when oil begins trading. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-04-03/iran-oil-minister-rejects-saudi-demand-freeze-crude-production
