  1. My Mother started work at 14 and worked solidly until she retired, apart from a 4 yr break when I was born. She put money away for her old age. Perhaps she should have been more reckless and just spent it on having a good time and let the Govt. pick up the tab by paying out Pension credits, council tax relief and everything else they give the reckless. As for Gratitude, you should be grateful to my mother for helping to keep this country going during the war. With comments like yours, I feel sorry for your mother to have brought such an arrogant tw@t into this world.
  2. Yes but this repo had all the fireplaces ripped out downstairs and the central heating pipes cut above the knackered boiler I was at the auction, The 2 guys who bought it looked like BTL chavs.
  3. Couldn't have put it better myself. Only one thing has pissed me off. At the British Legion Festival of Remembrance shown on the Beeb last night. During the hymn singing, the royal party were singing except one. Prince Philip was there, gob shut (for once) busy looking around at the scenery. IN FUTURE PHILIP, IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SHOW RESPECT AT THESE EVENTS, BLOODY STAY AT HOME
  4. I know someone who is Gay, aged 65, born in Turkey, lives with younger boyfriend (who earns £40K). The Turkish guy gets pension credit beacuse he has not paid enough NI. Because he gets pension credit, he gets council tax paid and his half of the mortgage paid. What about his "partner" on £40K . Because they are not in a "civil partnership", it's OK Time to ditch the wife and find an OLD QUEEN!!!!!!!!!
  5. From experience, I can say it's both Selling I was selling a property back in 2003. An agent who has been in business for 20 yrs told me "it's a good time to sell before the market turns" If I had not listened to him, I would be £150K better off. When selling a property in 2007, I had offers which I turned down and the agents telling me that it was a good offer from a cash buyer. 2 months later I completed the sale with anoyer buyer and was £10K better off. This was from a major agent who always puts a rep up to give comment to the media (_ _ _ _ _ _ _ Jim fixed it for me ) Buying I made a written offer on a repo after the agent was being a bit cagey, only to be told they had a higher offer. 6 months later I find it sold for less than my offer I tried to view a repo that had a 7 day notice in the local rag. The agent told me that the offer was accepted and so no viewings being done. I found out the mortgage company from the Land Registry, called them and kicked up a fuss. I viewed the property 2 days later ( but it was a Sh*t hole) The moral is - Don't trust these spotty spiky haired oiks in their hairdresser cars, they know jacks*it about property.
  6. Don't you believe it. I am trying to get money from my mother's account ( she passed away in August) The FSCS cannot tell me how they are going to do this as Icesave suspended the account when I told them about my mother, and we had made arrangements to close her linked account. They say it might have to be done by "paper application" and could take at least 6 weeks. The problem is they DON'T KNOW. that is just sheer incompetence
  7. I contacted FSCS today for 2 reasons (1)- I had not received my email yet (2)- I am dealing with my mother's estate and so cannot withdraw funds to a linked account There are so many problems with this FSCS/Icesave helpline. The staff manning the phones are temps who have been recruited "on behalf of the FSCS" and so their knowledge is limited. I was told that for a deceased estate, you have to ring the FSCS for an application form to withdraw the funds. Then it cold take AT LEAST 6 weeks. They also told me that there is no final decision of how they will pay funds to a deceased estate. WHAT!!!! THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A MONTH NOW They also told me that Icesave was in Administration as of yesterday I emailed Loretta Minghella (CEO FSCS) 27th October - No reply I emailed her again today. If I do not get a reply, I am going to the FSCS office and demand to speak to her or her flunkies to get an answer. IT'S BLOODY DISGUSTING
  8. (After 15 yrs working for JC+) All you do is Cut out the jobs from the local rag and take them to your fortnightly signing appointment. They don't ring the employer up Apply for a couple of jobs on their "jobpoints" because these show up on your personal record. If you have to ring the employer, do so, go through the interview disinterested so that they don't offer you the job. If you have to apply by CV, tell them you sent your CV as the "adjudication officer" cannot prove that you didn't
  9. Having worked for JC+ for 15 yrs ( not any more thank God), you should have told them in advance you were going to Edinburgh and claimed "travel to interview" expenses. In my time I have dished out money for flights, train, ferries, hotels. you name it. If you can't make your signing day, swear blind you rang the office and told them, they are supposed to put a "conversation" on your computer record, but half the staff can't be a*sed to do it. If you are going on holiday to the EU either work it around your siging day or go the whole hog and tell them you are going to Spain, Italy or whatever to look for work. You can have your benefits paid "abroad" for upto 13 weeks. Worth signing on and spending the winter in Spain with the Wrinklies for 3 months. Yes - the majority of JC+ staff are thick and lazy and do the minimum to get their Box A perfomance pay. I used to love giving the working and signing builders a run for their money when they came in to sign on covered in cement.
  10. Sandbanks is always better "off season" If you live on Panorama Rd. It is murder in the summer with the queues for the ferry. The inconsiderate Grockles, park across your drive despite the "Keep Clear" signs in the road. Then you have to wait for the queue to move. Perhaps there should be a campaign to service the ferry in the summer!!
  11. These properties are not even in Sandbanks. they are in Canford Cliffs (which is where the "old" money lives) This is half the problem, Sandbanks has been "talked up" so much over the last 5 years, now it will fall like a stone.
  12. He may think he can, but like the Loch Ness monster, he will be on the bottom pretty quick. Just as an anecdote, I was in London yesterday showing my brother's kids the sights. As we walked down Whitehall, past Downing Street, there were all these Brown leeches lined up with their invites and passport I.D. waiting to go through security. In a moment of madness, I shouted out at the top of my voice " Resign, Resign". The copper on duty told me to be quiet. I pointed out I was using my right to freedom of speech. It may have been a pointless exercise, but boy did it make me feel good!!!!!
  13. I can't tell you on here, but believe me it's true. I would be fuming if I was the owner.
  14. Quote Robert Dunford, a local estate agent, said: "They are the first two repossessions in 14 or 15 years in Sandbanks. But there are 1,200 properties on the peninsula so two repossessions is a small percentage over all." Mr Dunford added that the prospect of a bargain on the peninsular had brought cash buyers out of the woodwork. "I have been busier in the last four weeks than I have for the last six months," he said. The sooner Tailor Made go bust the better. Having had dealings with them in the past, they are amateurs. Perhaps Piers should come back and interview them in the office doing their Seduko. Maybe they should downsize to Ashley Road again
  15. In the case of residential property, the leaseholders can negotiate an extension of their lease when it is near to expiring (this is where you can make some money). Depending on the terms of the lease, greedy freeholders use the oportunity to use their own contacts (or their own company) to maintain the property and charge the leasholders for the priviledge.
  16. Lot 159 I viewed this property. It is in good condition, only a few years old. Builder won awards for this building. Flats in this block were exchanging for £300K plus. Agent had it on market for £265K+ Halifax repossessed it 2 offers made £235K & £250K - not accepted by Halifax Auction result £175K Halifax lose out bigtime, What about the owner? looks like the cookie has crumbled
  17. Thanks GregG I agree, I have "made some arrangements to get my money back" shall we say. Sometimes it is great fun and rewarding mentally to wind these govt. departments up and ask questions they are too ignorant to answer.
  18. "Icesave Compensation Set To Begin, We're going to get our savings back by 30th November" I'll believe it when I see it. My mother had an Icesave account. Fortunately, I persuaded her to withdraw the majority of her savings back in March. She had a few £100 left in it. Sadly she passed away in August. I informed Icesave, sent them a covering letter and death certificate. When the sh*t hit the fan on 7th Oct, I rang Icesave and spoke to a "Supervisor". I was told that it was not a problem as they had already started to deal with closing the account. 10 days later nothing, so rang them again. Different story. They were waiting for head office and FSCS to advise them what to do. Rang FSCS- They advised me to speak to FSA to make a claim of "maladministration" Rang FSA - Can make a claim for " maladministration" but have to wait until FSCS decides what it is going to do. also if Icesave is finally "wound up", FSA would not take a claim!! Rang Cabinet Office to get Darling's email ( that bast*rd needs to know about the inefficiency of his departments). He does not have an email address !!!!! Rang Icesave today to find out latest situation. They are in the process of returning death certificate with a letter asking us for probate certificate. I spoke to probate office at the time of my mother's death. They informed me that probate was not required with the level of estate involved. Also I have closed her other accounts with higher balances without probate Rang FSCS today, told me they will be writing to Icesave customers shortly asking them to electronically transfer balances to linked accounts. HOW CAN I WHEN ICESAVE HAS SUSPENDED THE ACCOUNT AND THE LINKED ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CLOSED???????? FSCS told me to email their enquiry team- Did so, replied that they are unable to enter into personal correspondence at this time WHAT A BLODDY FIASCO. What about the pensioners with savings invested to give them a monthly income, their money is in limbo. It's alright for Brown & Darling to use the media sound bites to say they are doing everything they can for Icesave customers. *** IT'S ALL BULLOCKS ***
  19. It always bloody rains in Wales, so why is someone making an offer OVER the asking price? Worth buying perhaps just to get your free prescriptions
  20. Is this a new way of marketing? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property/id23489669 Look at picture 11. Are they saying there is not enough room to swing a cat?
  21. It was reported on C4 news that Chelsea Building Society had in the region of £50m invested in Icelandic Banks. Is this being played down to prevent a further run?
  22. 2 Jags would lay his hands on anything, including a heckler. That slimey BAS*ARD would sell his Granny if the return was right.
  23. What annoys me, is that these authorities employ "Strategic Financial Directors", "Chief Accountants", "Best Practice Directors" etc, etc, all on fat salaries with gold plated pensions. They are just as bad as the Bank CEO's, If they have made bad investments, they should be sacked. They should be put in the stocks outside the Town Hall. If I was a small businessman with a meagre investment in these "ICY Frozen" banks, I would be demanding that if the Councils get compensated so should I. I can see the riots this will cause on the streets when the inflated council tax bills arrive
  24. Quote But Mr Lyon said it was difficult to determine which home MPs should claim as their main home. Mr Moss had suggested it was where children went to school, Mr Balls and Ms Cooper had suggested "among other things that where they ate Sunday lunch is significant". So second home owners who spend the weekend in their " other" home are in fact spending it in their main home. Bend it like Balls. what a bloody disgrace!!!!
