South Lorne
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/26/opinion/26cohen.html Germany is important to the United States right now. It’s time to rekindle a dormant relationship. While America is not at “Stunde null,” it’s at a moment of disarray when it has to rethink the nature and exercise of its power. Germany knows all about reinvention. It can help in four important areas: Europe, the economy, Iran and Afghanistan.A strong Europe is essential to America’s recovery. The United States is too stretched — militarily and economically — to do without the cohesion of its closest allies. There are three major European powers: Britain, France and Germany. Britain is going through a meltdown so severe that the joke there is that the country’s the next Iceland. That aside, its European credentials are always a little suspect. ....how others see us.. as we see ourselves.. is enlightening...... aa3
Over the last 5 years Germany's power seems to be increasing exponentially. Along with its exports. Look at how Russia and Germany have become buddy-buds, which makes perfect sense as one is a great manufacturer, and the other a great resource producer. The last few months of crisis have also shown definatevly that the EU/Euro is a German/Franco project with the other countries along for the ride. And imo Germany taking the upperhand over France. Especially as the French/Dutch/Belgium group hit banking problems and need German help. No doubt in my mind that Germany will have a list of demands it wants for every 10 billion it gives to bail them out.

Americans care only about money at almost any cost - as we do not have any soon, they will leave us. We deserve to suffer - if you sleep with whores you suffer in the long run. They did the same thing in Iraq - started a war and then awarded themselves and their crony corporations the lucrative reconstruction contracts.
