  1. Not the news I'd hoped for I must admit. However, on a brighter note... there have been 2938 price reductions on Rightmove in the last 24 hours.
  2. -1.5% The ball is now rolling and tomorrow will show that it's gathering momentum. It's a shame that the percentage drops on RM aren't those we see on the actual sales reports... Property Log is showing some nice drops in some areas which I thought might be immune.
  3. Update - 1st June Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has downloaded the extension. Usage is increasing every single day which is great to see and in the last 24 hours we've collectively found over 3k price reductions on Rightmove. I've had a few people come forward offering their Property Bee databases but could still do with more, they are extremely useful at filling in some of the older blanks. If you'd like to help with this then drop me a PM and I will talk you through what you need to do (it's very easy). Keep the faith everyone, the correction we've all been waiting for is happening and prices are falling. P.S. If you haven't already downloaded the extension then you can do so here.
  4. I just want to echo this comment. Keep the faith everybody, the market is correcting and the price reductions are coming through. Every day there are between 2-3k price reductions on Rightmove and although this isn't a great indicator, it gives me (and I hope others too) hope that things are going in the right direction.
  5. Thanks for the kind words! There are a lot of people using the extension now and in the last 24 hours there have been 2958 reductions on Rightmove (that our users have found). Update After a couple of mega late nights I've finally got the property bee data import working and have subsequently imported a few user's databases. Ideally I could do with a few more datasets before I open it up completely (by adding a guide etc), if you're interested in supplying your data please drop me a PM. Just in case you're wondering, the property bee data doesn't include any personal information.
  6. No problem. Unfortunately I had to remove the comments functionality I was opening myself up for legal issues and it's simply not worth the risk. Quite a few people advised that I should remove it and I trust their judgement. It makes perfect sense as all it takes is one bitter seller who can't handle the truth to take legal action over a random comment about their property. It's a real shame as I (and others) liked the concept, it seemed to work really well and in a short period of time a lot of comments got added. Also, I'm glad everyone is liking the extension and thanks again for the continued support and usage. Just a quick update on the Property Bee data, I've finished the import routine and am in the final stages of testing. I'm predicting that I should have it done by the end of the week, and after that I will put out a guide on how ex Property Bee users can help by providing their data.
  7. Not at the moment but I shall set one up soon. Not looking to make any money out of this but contributions towards server costs etc are always appreciated I've sent you a PM. Once I've got this bit of development nailed I will write a guide on how to find your old Property Bee data and where to send it etc.
  8. I believe 4/4/18 is the first date in the Property Lion dataset which was imported yesterday. In a few days it should go back a lot further for some areas as quite a lot of Property Bee users have sent me their data which I'm working on importing. As I'm sure you can appreciate this is a complex process and quite time consuming so please bear with me.
  9. Just released a new version that supports rentals, it will be available in the morning (it's currently being published). Sadly the extension doesn't have any previous rental data so we'll need to build it up. No problem at all, glad you like it Thanks for the feedback. The time was set to 7 days, which I agree is way too long. I've just updated the extension so that will it only stay yellow for the current and previous day. I haven't added any other colours in (yet). Update the extension to the latest version (1.5) in the morning and you should see the change
  10. What the Property Log extension is doing is no different to what Property Bee has been doing for the last ~10 years and Property Tracker for the last ~8. The extension is not generating any extra load on their servers (which dedicated scraping would do) as it's a capturing an id and a price from a page they were looking at already. Yes, there is an argument for it falling into a grey area but why do you feel the need to highlight this to the world? Let it drop, please.
  11. Yes this is possible and something I have already taken into account behind the scenes. The one issue(?) we have is that we only have price drops from the beginning of April onwards meaning that it could skew some results. What I could do is add the option in the extension to turn this functionality on or off (off would be default until we have a lot more price drops). Why do you have to be so negative all the time? What the Count does with Rightmove is up to him. Perhaps instead of trying to find a flaw in everything why don't you contribute to the community in a way that actually helps us.
  12. Britain's cheapest house (until they correct the price): http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-71726801.html
  13. Yep, know all about Property Tracker but was never a fan of the layout (having to click the icon to see what the drops are etc) and there were some occasional bugs with it. Last time I used it you had to manually refresh the page every time you browsed through the search pages to see the updated drops. A large number of us loved Property Bee and it's simple design which showed you the drop data at a glance. Property Log has the support of a number of very active forum users who come from a development background and are in this for the long haul to the bottom.
  14. I'm tempted to as it shouldn't be too different from the Chrome extension. Leave this with me and I'll see what I can do. I just want to say a big thanks to TheCountOfNowhere, he kindly supplied me with the propertylion data and I've been able to update/add a further 465k prices to the Property Log database. This has filled in a lot of blanks and means we've been able to go back a further 2 weeks. My next bit of development is going to be the property bee data import. A number of old PB users have asked if I can do anything with their old data, the hope is that I will be able to import their data which will then help others. If anyone would like to download Property Log for Chrome then please click here.
  15. Thanks! In a few days when I've got The Count's Property Lion data imported I will create a new thread. Btw, sorry for the short outage this evening, normal service has resumed!
  16. Thanks mrtickle! I've had a look at my own Property Bee data and although the DB structure is a bit confusing (column names etc) I will be able to import it. I've spoken with Count and he's kindly sent me the Property Lion data which I will be importing within the next few days. I've had a number of messages from Property Bee users who have kindly offered to send me their data so I'm going to write an import script so we can get this old data in easily and quickly. If anyone wants to contribute by getting their PB data into the plugin then please drop me a PM. When I've got these two pieces of work (Property Lion import and PB script work) out of the way I will concentrate on streamlining the PB imports by having an import tool on the website. Btw, Cliffhanger is a great film! You're welcome, glad you like it. It would help a bit, especially those in Wales and Scotland. We are currently checking Rightmove daily for price changes in England so we should have those covered at least. What would help the most is if old PB users who have used it until recently were to import their data.
  17. Thanks. I did add a disclaimer yesterday but I've actually had a few people mention to me about the comments and it being a potential recipe for disaster. I've just published a new version which removes the comments functionality (should be available in ~60mins). It's a real shame as the comments would be useful but I don't want some angry seller who can't sell their home taking legal action! Apologies to everyone who liked this functionality and was using it, I hope you understand. Re: Count's database - I've spoken with him and he's going to get the data over to me soon, I will be able to integrate it fairly easily. A lot of people are using the extension already which is great! Just need to keep getting the word out there and some of the old Property Bee users using and we should be flying! Thanks to everyone who has helped so far.
  18. At the moment yes, although I've got 2 other people who've volunteered to help with the moderating if it takes off. Glad you like it Your comments have been approved btw. Haha!
  19. Glad you all like it, makes the hard work worthwhile I have some interesting stats from the data I've collected... For example, in the last 24 hours there have been 3099 reductions on Rightmove! The official number will be a LOT higher than this.
  20. I don't think it would be too difficult to write a Chrome Extension to do that. If you have some programming experience then it might be worth giving it a bash.
  21. I wrote it... I agree, it's a shame that I only have data from the 16th April onwards. I have been scraping for the price changes for the last month so have been keeping it relatively up to date since then. With active users it should be a lot better. Definitely interested in the PropertyLion database to merge into it, that would be a massive help. Feel free to drop me a PM
  22. It won't let me edit the post to make it a hyperlink so this is the link to the Chrome extension store where you can download it for free.
  23. If you were a fan of Property Bee then I recommend trying the Property Log Chrome Extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/property-log/jccihedpilhidcbkconacnalppdeecno Very similar to PB but you can also add comments on the properties!
  24. 26 years old, earn £20k working in IT (Web Development). Currently live in the Thames Valley region (an expensive part) at home with parents. I didn't go to Uni and started work full time at the end of 2003. Had a couple of good jobs with regular salary increases however it's been all downhill from there. When things went wrong I went backpacking and also lived abroad for short periods (2 months at a time etc). Looking back I was stupid to leave a particular job in 2007 but it got to the stage where I wanted to do something else with my life. Currently in a stable job which I actually enjoy but I am seriously underpaid. Unfortunately there is a company wide pay freeze so no hope of a salary increase. I have a second income though the Internet which is roughly £6k but after tax etc doesn't really leave a huge amount. I have no debts, own my car outright and have about £17k saved up. With such a low salary (almost £10k a year less than I used to earn a few years ago) I've given up on trying to buy a home and am instead looking for higher paid jobs elsewhere in the country and shall rent instead. Deep down I know that my current working position is because of actions I've taken in the past (quitting a higher paid job to go travelling etc) but I'm trying to do something about it. I've been a lurker on this site since about 2008, I was hoping prices would crash but it's now reached the stage where I don't think they ever will.
  25. I don't want to sound stupid but I'm going to one of the Greek Islands on holiday next month, will this affect me in any way?
