  1. SpringintheAir or The Yorkshire Ripper, I'd prefer the Yorkshire Ripper.
  2. Going to view a 3 bed semi in Cleethorpes tomorrow that was last purchased in Jan 03 for 96K. Its now on the market for only 192K. The EA whose doing the viewing, the MD of the company is gonna get ragged by myself to see how he can justify the 96 thousand pound increase in just three years. If this aint a bubble, can someone tell me honestly their reasons they think its not. The house looks nice (can't do links i'm afraid), and i would consider it for £150K, but this is just plain old crazy town. Bring on the falls.
  3. And I'm sure there will be a few estate agents and other VI's squirming in their seats reading this at the moment because they know there is nothing they can do to stop it...i'm not breaking the law...I'm just another buyer who happens to change his mind 4 to 8 weeks down the road...nothing illegal with changing your mind yet is there?!...and the same could be said for my friends..incidently all of different ages and backgrounds...could keep the same house tied up for years if we wanted....driving the price way way down....untill I get the price that I think is fair.... That must be the best bit, and if the VI's WE KNOW visit this site are bombarded with such statements daily, then all the better. RAM it right back up em i say!!! The Great British BUYING public think this whole situation is shite, and the sooner prices fall back into averages the better. I wouldn't mind paying the "right, fair" price for a home this minute, but by feck i wouldn't buy into this sham if i had a gun to my head.
  4. Ha, that really is quite amusing. I bet that was the result of a 5 minute panic stricken brain storming session. l
  5. I wouldn't let my mother in law live in a hole like that, well maybe??? 160K, i repeat, 160K!!!!!! No concept of money some folk!!!!
  6. One of my local estate agents in Cleethorpes, Bettles Miles and Holland told me last week that the only properties selling are the lower end range up to 130K. In her words, "vendors with semis and detatched properties must lower their prices if they are to achieve a sale". I asked her by how much and her response was by as much as up to 20K. That'll do for me. I think its a sad state of affairs that people can chop 20K off so lightly, thats a hell of a lot of money, to me anyway. We have locally thousands of properties on the market, more coming on all the time. Also lots of private boards going up for a couple of months before they go to an agent. More and more reduced too. Its happening alright, and no propping up will save it.
  7. If Grimsby could be classed as the North, then the boom most certainly aint still on. We've had 3 stories in the local Telegraph about the boom crashing down in the last 2 months. One of those even stole the front page headlines. The latest one quoted an EA from Louth saying vendors are having to come down 7.5K from asking prices, then another quote from a Grimsby EA saying some vendors are taking 20% hits just to off load. Yet still, there are some paying todays asking prices, but mainly in the "good" catchment areas. It is these people that are supporting the market at the moment locally.
  8. Excellent post Uberstuka, shows the facts we are dealing with in Grimsby at the minute. Had a quick look with JGP, is it the Rufford Road property your into?? Looks nice, but would sure take some filling. My advice (for what its worth) is to wait another 6 months and get it for 140 - 150K Good Luck, happy house hunting and be ruthless with your offers. 9. Uberstuka, your in the same position in the same town as me and my partner. After coming close a couple of months ago on the purchase of house, we both feel its best to hold off and see what happens. Its true the amount of property coming on and staying on the market is unreal. Jackson Green & Preston have hundreds and hundreds of houses for sale, some with 10K reduced and still not selling. They can only come down surely. There is a house on with JGP on Thirkleby Crescent with 10K reduced, but the neighbours extension in the back garden is an eye sore, stealing all the sun. Hold off for now is our advice, the Estate Agents must be bricking it by now. Gonna be a long cold winter with no sales.
  10. As a potential FTB this thread has been a revalation to me. I've been looking and have come close to finalising a deal a couple of times in the last 3 months. Thank feck it never happened. Just sitting back and waiting, watching them prices come tumbling down. Bring it on.
  11. Some houses listed in Grimsby with Estate Agents have taken 10K off the asking price, and still they aint budging. Jackson Green & Preston. Thirkleby Cresent. £169950 to £159950. Desperate times ahead.
  12. Is he in the game do you think? Vested interests my mate? bet you could crack a walnut with your gripper, ooh the fear you must be facing.
