  1. http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2009/oct/21/homeinsurance-insurance Usually, conveyancing solicitors will only search for chancel liabilities if told to. one to watch even if you dont live near a church + are considering buying a property in the bull trap or crack-up boom or whatever it is now or later
  2. only the tiniest of percentages go with daddybear's crack up theory i have not voted i must be honest, i dont have a clue what to say: i have never seen such contrary indications before. common sense says this is the end of a boom of cheap money, prices rising with cars, property etc, perhaps as a result of that cheap and printed money, shout serious inflation, yet i dont understand how that can perpetuate, theres a whole bit from the mechanism i dont get. so i'm unable to decide what to do.
  3. as they said, the western news outlets dont give the truth, whats on the box today come dancing man arrested, i mean ffs, dumbed down britain had to laugh when he said brown + darling were fools to land the uk taxpayer with the dubai debt, i also dont know why b & d just didnt repay depositors then let those banks fail, well i do know but cant understand their optimism
  4. edited to add poll options although was really addressing those who are seeing sales in their areas
  5. thx for that although as I say they are the cheaper end of pricing round that way, they are still not far from peak asking prices from what i can tell. what they sold for we dont know.
  6. been on the watch list a month as you can see from propertybee - good percentage now sold - these are just a few. where are we at? end of nominal falls? crack-up boom? last few fools buying? how are buyers funding purchases? NB these properties are the cheaper end of the housing stock believe it or not, however my own road is not the cheaper end + 2 of the 3 there have sold according to the boards put up. also have been noting some prices reduced by 3 to 4% on other properties still unsold, well as yet anyway... http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-26433347.html?locationIdentifier=OUTCODE^2473&sortByPriceDescending=false&minPrice=120000&minBedrooms=3&displayPropertyType=houses&oldDisplayPropertyType=houses&includeSSTC=true&_includeSSTC=on&pageNumber=1&fromSummary=true&backToListURL=%2Fproperty-for-sale%2Ffind.html%3FlocationIdentifier%3DOUTCODE%255E2473%26sortByPriceDescending%3Dfalse%26minPrice%3D120000%26minBedrooms%3D3%26displayPropertyType%3Dhouses%26oldDisplayPropertyType%3Dhouses%26includeSSTC%3Dtrue%26_includeSSTC%3Don 27 November 2009 13:42:53 * Status changed: from 'Available' to 'Sold STC' 14 November 2009 16:38:20 * Agents Address found: 379 Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, Leigh-On-Sea, SS9 5PS * Detailed Description found: Very Well Maintained Three Bedroom Family Home with Good Size Conservatory. 7. http://www.lse.co.uk/FinanceNews.asp?shareprice=&ArticleCode=ggmyhp5biqk0fiq&ArticleHeadline=GlancePRESS_DIGEST__Financial_Times__Nov_27 Financial Times DARLING TO CONCEDE RECESSION WORSE THAN HE FORECAST Chancellor Alistair Darling will admit in next month's pre-budget report that the recession has been much deeper than he previously forecast. He is also expected to reveal that the economy contracted by 4.75 percent in 2009, at least one percentage point more than predicted in the budget. He is also likely to forecast output growth of 1 to 1.5 percent for next year, as he highlights signs of economic recovery ahead of a probable general election in May. Mr Darling remained reticent about the precise forecasts at Treasury questions in the Commons, though he did express a belief that 'we will see growth at the turn of the year'.
  8. FT carries headline economic migrants RETURNING TO UK as proof of UK econ recovery, cant read it as not a subscriber SIGNS OF GROWTH TURN JOBSEEKERS' TIDE Data released by the Home Office shows that Britain appears to be attracting an increasing number of applications from East European workers following a flood of departures last year. The latest quarterly figures show that work permit applications hit a low of 25,520 in the first quarter of the year, rising to 29,085 in the three months to September. However, the number was still significantly below the 41,265 in the same period last year.
  9. ft wont let me read any articles, says i have exceeded my 2 freebies a month, probably some cookie on my pc, but this is a screen capture of front page from a news review site says he's "to concede" i wonder if he's going to use that as an excuse for more printy printy
  10. they say a number of things dont they, depends if they've been reading hpc or not methinks
  11. front page of FT, no link yet - so does this mean his growth prediction everyone laughed at + then accepted is now back to being laughed at?
  12. i've been walking about a lot today as car was at mot, each agent i passed i looked in, i dont know if agents are hiring people to look like customers but each agent office had a young couple looking at sales particulars sitting down, of course they could be crack up boomers, who knows
  13. but might you get a gallic shrug of the shoulders if the dealership goes t!ts? i would do the deposit on the credit card if i were you, nothing's impossible any more, Feb2010 might as well be 2045 in this rollercoaster economy
  14. now you're being silly, they of course cycle down + before you shoot holes in that one, two words: kevlar tyres
  15. how do they verify a payslip when the employer is actually in a parallel dimension or a whole different end of the galaxy. Replacement payslip fraud service i suppose, sigh, here we go again, the chav feckless ETs next door + their Light (but durable) Mysterious Alloy music into the early hours + of course heating on full blast thanks to the Social payout, did i mention daddy alien fixing old space modules on the road, bang bang bang all day because the right tool is on the home planet so a hammer + pliers will have to do...
  16. what is worrying rbs shareholders if the govt stake is 84 % ? that their shares will be diluted? what? i have no knowledge on this one
  17. i take it any deposit you've given is safe, that would be my concern these days, i would not want to part with money until i was able to take possession immediately following payment, like 60 seconds following, actually make that 20
  18. I can think of at least three 1. Do you have [] store cards [] Amex [] Mastercard [] Visa [] Bank debit card (eg Maestro, Switch) 2. What are your gross earnings per annum before tax? EUR ......... 3. Are you elegible for first time buyer tax credits? [] Yes [] No [] Unsure, please put me in touch with an adviser btw some theological studies hold that demonic beings will pose as aliens (and estate agents)
  19. well you'd think EAs would always have the sense to remind the vendors to take realistic values because no sale then no commission at all, the difference being just a hundred or so the agent between a silly price + towards reality. however many agents being so desperate to retain house vendors never try to talk the vendor to reality because sometimes a mug comes along + pays the stupid price
  20. well that could be why its just a 2.5 % , we just dont know, same as we dont know which banks get bail out money on the qt with qe
  21. from what i saw of the asking prices they are ridiculously high for crap terraced homes, but what makes me particularly curious is why only one agent seems to be selling in volume. what are they good at? convincing buyers to pay more or convincing vendors to take less or do they just have some sort of midas touch with marketing? i wonder which it is.
