  1. 'Would suit young professional survivalists' or for the ads in the rental market ' No DHSS ( for anyone, anymore)' Shouldn't the Ray Mears dvd set come with some kind of solar powered dvd player ?
  2. THe private feedback system thing is a problem , but I think you are throwing the baby out with the bath water a bit, I still make a part-time living off selling on ebay & it goes ok almost all of the time. Re: buying on ebay, some rules like buying only from sellers with 99%+ feedback & pref 100 + sales need to be followed. I would never buy from someone with private feedback. What annoys me is ebays monopoly status, Unless I want a millstone shop lease, I have no choice but to use it. The upside of Paypal is that it makes small international trading possible, I went ot the Woolwich Bank today & they wanted £25 to transfer to a uk bank & £35 for international transfer - WTF!!  Paypal are about a 4.5% charge
  3. Its nice to see the housing developers getting revenge on the U-boats recently though, up near my area http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/4343272.stm "Hopes sink for future of U-boat" 'The future of one of Merseyside's most popular maritime attractions is in doubt because its home is needed for a car park. The Historic Warships Collection at Birkenhead has to relocate because flats are being developed nearby. The German U-boat has been at Birkenhead for nine years '
  4. Your wifes right, I now remember reading something on www.MoneySavingExpert.com saying don't spend your voucers in Tescos as they are worth a lot more elsewhere. Theres something weird about the sellers feedback, they have 15 negs in last 6 months, but profile at top says Member Profile: iloveebay2005 (private) Members who left a negative: 2 Feedback Score: 439 Positive Feedback: 99.5% and theres only 3 mutual withdrawls, so that not the answer, their Rating should be a lot less than 99.5%
  5. Often they have a mate / agent based in Uk with the uk based ebay ID & item is then sent over from China, direct to buyer. Unless the buyer complains ebay don't know about it & they often keep quiet as they are getting cheap goods (though often they are buying good copies of dvds etc without realising). Also, as I mentioned ebay are swamped with people doing it with a China / hong kong ID alone, so cannot keep up with the fraudsters.
  6. Mainly, its because of the china / hong kong sellers, pretending to be uk sellers & avoiding fees with 1p Buy it now & 29.99 postage etc. Uk ebay businesses are unable to compete & it swamps categories. Problem is that there are so many at it, & ebay can't keep up with pulling them.
  7. BTW, that was on the auction description! The other irony with that muppet was he was selling a car steering wheel with £53.01 postage & seperately a car with £700 postage, but it could only be collected in person. If that wasn't obvious enough as ebay fee avoidance, he also had on the auction for the £53 steering wheel: "Please note that this item must be posted- there is no collection- the buy it now price and postage represent the full cost of the wheel- otherwise listing fees are too much and the price of the wheel needs to be higher to cover these- this way everybody wins."
  8. Its not just the buyers who go a bit mad, check this notice from a Seller. There seem to be many trainee solicitors on ebay 'POLITE NOTICE- Please note you are bidding to buy not to mess me around and try and haggle. If you bid you buy- if you don't I come after you through the courts- I am a trainee solicitor so can issue actions for free and they will cost you £30.00 to contest or I then get a ruling in my favour and take measures to get the money. Obviously I don't want to do this but at least I could present this ad as proof you were notified from the outset. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I won't be messed around. However my job also means I know the facts about mis-representing items or selling faulty goods- neither of which I do. Alternatively if you want I could keep your ID and just ruin every auction you are involved in!'
  9. "They must have been ******g each other, don't you think?" They certainly were financially
  10. Yes, there some good humour on ebay. Good chance we'll be seeing a lot more of this on there as well as people have to sell everything to pay off cc debts, but without the media circus / motley fool fanfare-desperate. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=5622333391 apparently it went a bit pear shaped http://buy-my-stuff.blogspot.com/ same guy had this ebay auction - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? Vie...&ru=http%3A%2F% EDIT - sorry, I Just noticed someone posted about this guy selling all his possesions on ebay earlier
  11. No I can't explain it, but it makes this one look like a good deal http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIR-GUITAR-IN-EXCELL...1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. That prog was amazing, They were completely mad & IMO the banks were totally irresponsible by not inspecting the business plan, which was a joke from the start, they didn't even have plans for the building work! He ended up a part-time labourer in Southampton Docks & the business will no doubt be bankrupt shortly. The only prog I've seen to rival that recently was 'what happened to the gender benders' which interviewed various new romantic 'bi'-cons from the early 80's. Steve Strange & Marilyn were burnt out, penniless ex-junkies now living with their mums support in small villages. They were more damaged by addiction than Ozzie Osbourne. More of a multi vehicle pile up than car crash tv, especially Steve Stranges comeback with a drug addled, screeching version of 'Fade to Grey' on German tv- painful. Ex-Spandau Martin Kemp had tears in his eyes over Steves condition.
  13. Thanks for the warning Apom, & sorry to hear your story. RFD seriously, you really should be writing comedy sketches. Charlie, would we expect anything less of your uber-credit rating. It would have to be such to survive the scrutiny of the hpc mod appication procedure While on the subject of banks (swines), I had a letter from the Halifax today. They had bounced an £18 direct debit as I forgot about it & went over my overdraft limit. It said ' To cover our costs, we make a charge of £39 (maximum 3 charges per day)for any item we can't pay. We will take this money from your account 7 days from the date of this letter (dated 2 days ago - so I only have 5 days notice) If this causes you to have an unauthorised overdraft, we will also charge you interest & a monthly unauthorised fee of £28. However if your unauthorised overdraft is £30 or less the unauthorised overdraft charge will not be applied.' Last time i looked at their charges it was £35 not £39, so they have raised the fee 11% despite the widely publicised consumer assoc. campaign to get it reduced to £10. Is this another sign of them milking the forgetful customer to pay for increasing debt defaults ? I was outraged at the £28 monthly charge, (conveniently triggered by their own charge if I only went 50p over my limit) when I dicovered it, but this is the final straw I will be closing my account & bartering in future.
  14. “She said she loved me but when she left she took the TV, the bed, and the VCR. Guess when we were at home and she said, I love you, I love you, I love you. I must have been standing in front of the TV, the bed, or the VCR. So like an idiot, I believed her. I love you, you big 19 incher...Thanks honey. It’s what she can’t have. Now the Toshiba’s gone. What am I going to do? Get bitter?......” - Bill Hicks
  15. Fair point in normal circumstances, but I think C4 forum warrant a special case given their censorship & mod muppetry. The irony that Consa runs another forum is rather amusing as well. Perhaps consa should reveal himself to C4 as the **** masked avenger ( or revenger if they banned you)
  16. Tony: NO Gordon! I SAID I'm so bored, i'd rather be getting THIS type of head from that familiar girl behind us. I'm worried she's a bit of a tease though, as she keeps repeating something about 'never going down' and won't chew on her hat she's promised to eat. Maybe she's already had her Phil?
  17. I've already copyrighted ' Halloween Bounce' Unfortuneately I could not spell 'Haloween' http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...haloween+bounce "I'm down ther road in Chester & i've seen some similar major delay tactics in finishing the yuppet flats on the canal, most likely praying for the spring/ summer / haloween bounce"
  18. The optician cartel appear to be a particlularly strong one . They are prepared to take ebay on in court re: contact lenses http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money-savers/...19&in_page_id=5 as I posted on a previous Hpc ebay thread http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...0&hl=ebay&st=20 "Court case in sight for eBay Sean Poulter, Daily Mail 29 September 2005 THE Internet auction site eBay is being prosecuted after being accused of allowing the sale of cheap disposable contact lenses. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money-savers/...19&in_page_id=5 Trade Associations (cartels), Retailers & industry trying to slow the slide to online trade is surely a sign of an increasingly desperate high street . In one way, its good ebay are too big to take on now, the big boys would destroy many smaller players. "
  19. SO the property ladder should be more appropriately titled 'property stilts' and someones already using them
  20. Congratulations Jon, I think www.find-cd.co.uk www.find-dvd.co.uk and www.find-games.co.uk are excellent. I just wished more people knew about your sites as dvd/cds/ games are very overpriced generally. People seem to pay silly money for some dvds particularly on ebay, whereas they are often cheaper new using your websites. Most prices are cheaper that sale prices in HMV /Virgin 90% of timer I look. Many of the dvds I buy are obscure region 1' from USA suppliers, so your region 1 dvd option is useful. I opened an ebay shop a while back & found myself top of google with no other effort. Had you thought of opening an ebay shop with a relevant user name/ shop name for £6 a month as a very cheap form of advertising to target the ignorant ebayers?
  21. Sadly, a lot of info was not updated recently on that site. Couldn't see if the deadline period was 6 or 12 years for chasing mortgage debt. The dialogue the site had with the CIFAS (Credit Industry Fraud Avoidance System) was interesting http://www.home-repo.org/blacklis/cifas.htm
  22. Late edition news extra: Some of the queing cars seemed to have hastily removed sticker remnants looking strangely like the developers /Ea's logo. No doubt some genuine buyer muppets will be back sleeping in their cars again soon.
  23. Frightening stuff for NYC homeowners if its true, but they don't say where thay get that 13% figure from. I'll ring a mate in north Brooklyn for some anecdotals tonight, as he said he was going to try & sell his flat.
  24. I use the comparison sister sites of www.find-cd.co.uk www.find-dvd.co.uk www.find-games.co.uk a lot to find the cheaper deal. As anecdotal evidence from running a small ebay business, last Feb was appalling (although trade from Feb-april is traditionally slow) I'm considering going on holiday this coming Feb. instead of trading.
  25. I thought that they could not get anything out of a debtor after 6 years, so long as they had no contact with them in that time.
