  1. To sit out - until they worth what - 30% of their current value?
  2. Anyway, can I have Nurse Sarah Prodger's number? I presume she has a nurse costume, right?
  3. What Turkey's got to do with it? They stay out of it and Russia has nothing against them. I think the outcome is clear by now - Georgians bit more than they can chew so will learn it the hard way, and Russians will get proper military presence in 2 break-away republics rather than peace-keeping forces. France will get credits for making peace. George and Gordy can do what they want as they can't do anything.
  4. Pardon my ignorance, but which Muriel is included as I found quite a few of them.
  5. I think you were mad to buy there in the first place. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/ the only company in the UK that means business.
  6. Ever since I bought a massively overpriced and poor quality digital phone there (£120 vs my current perfect one bought for £15 on ebay) which they refused to take back as "the box was opened" (ffs, how would I know it was sh*t without even trying it?) I wish Dixons/PC World a complete and utter demise and annihilation. The sooner they go tits up the better for everyone. Nothing personal, just the way they do their business is 100% wrong.
  7. Lots more. We've been renting in Leeds for 3 years in 03-06 and it was not easy to find a good and not overpriced accommodation. Just checked yesterday Rightmove and omg, SO MANY apartments in LS1 alone. Hundreds upon hundreds. Must be an effect of all these new student places being built as many apartments/terraces were rented by students and as they moved out now they are empty. Also all those who can not sell trying at least to rent it out.
  8. In a house we rent (nice area, converted mill) rents have falled from £600/m to £500/m in the last couple of months, and I never seen so many flats on offer. In fact, most of the time, there were none.
  9. What $1650 in 2011 will be worth in today's money? $650 at best?
  10. Oh you guys made my day here, it's WAY funnier than even CGNAO threads.
  11. I have my property bee set to BD18 area (Saltaire, West Yorkshire) and as of late there's a number of £25-50 reductions which is 5-10% off (prices are around £500/month here). And much more flats/house on offer as well. Did not see it coming, but here it is.
  12. Cheers mate, hopefully the system is a bit more reasonable than I was afraid. Still can't believe he could even come up with such demand!
  13. Hi, my first thread, a bit scared but need to put it off my chest Just back from the hospital having my appendix removed, and here's a story I've learned there. Before dispatch I was put in a ward with a chap who warned me when I went to a bathroom that he "made some mess there and was really sorry". I guess he did not close the shower door so water was ankle deep and he spread a pack of towels to soak it but failed to throw them. Next thing he switched beds (his was a bit messy by the time) and when nurse asked him to get back shouted and used a "c" word. At this point I wished I was a bit more mobile. But what really pissed me off (and is property related) is the following. Next morning he refused to go before a social service officer comes to see him. When she arrived he said he won't return to his home and that he needs a new one as he has nowhere to go. No one cleaned in his house for 9 months and many things became broken so either he gets a new house or else. A lady was listening all this nearly apologetic, making notes and promising "to get back to him as soon as they can". I hope she meant that they would send him an eviction note for damaging council property, but I am not sure. Honest, if I were a bit better I'd grab him by the balls and explained that as a taxpayer I was not prepared to pay for cleaning his sh*t when I already pay for his house and (apparently) benefits. Do you think as a member of public I have the right to contact the local social service and inquire of the outcome of his demand?
  14. No, but this house is in the middle of the road (literally).
  15. LOL never opened either of them Any good? That'd be our local Yorkshire Post, which is not that bad at all.
  16. Same thing nearly happened to me (that is as an offender ). A wan*er EA kept chasing us for rent months after we canceled the agreement as far as he was concerned. Was leaving messages on my missus mobile that he'd take case to court etc. Was so hard not to break a few bones when I payed him a visit, so I am not surprised someone been less patient
  17. From numerous stories in the press a lot of these claimants do cash-in-hand jobs or just trade on eBay full time, so they will have no other choice but to stop claiming as they won't want to lose the main income. Does not look like slavery to me at all, just common sense, if you want to get paid (and I can't believe you can't get ANY job in 2 years) - do some work, and if it's in the neighborhood cleaning streets or removing graffiti then it's a bonus.
  18. Very good topic. Just yesterday spoke with a friend from Kiev, Ukraine, and his 2 room (i. e. 1 bed) apartment is valued now @ $275.000 - that's about £135.000. Average salary is not more than $500/month. He could rent same apartment for $1000/month. So the value is way beyond all reasons, whichever way you look at it. My opinion is property bubble is truly world-wide phenomenon, and one country's fall will push another with domino effect.
  19. Please forgive my amateur views, I was only reading this forum for a couple of weeks (and as I've quickly learned my 2 master degrees don't count here), but I would think that weighting should be based on actual % of what your average Joe spends per year on different categories. And I can't imagine he can spend 20.9% on holidays, weather he's on benefits or Roman Abramovich. Unless, of course, he spends just 7% on housing - oh yes if I spent that much (haha) I'd have Bahama holidays twice a year, with plenty left to buy these cheap PCs, cameras and plazma TVs, thank you!
  20. Very well said. There's ALWAYS someone near you who needs your help more than fat cats mentioned above.
