I voted against this too, think a member on here alerted everyone to it. Too much apathy though from voters.

I have found nationwide a very mixed bag. Back in the early 00's their call centres were appalling, their branches better. Branches actually quite good in 2005/06. Then had the misfortune to deal with the savings call centre, they were pretty bad.

Only reason stayed with savings last couple of years was the rate. Over 3%, but these as everyone else have plummeted to just over 2%. Might have to buy a house lol

Nationwide is just adapting to survive and prosper in "bank friendly" world. Can one blame them for their actions? Self preservation always comes priority before the members.

The world has changed, it does not want to become a stalwart, like HMV, or Comet. If the money is not flowing in or taking market share. It must CHANGE. If the business does not grow every day, it is dying. This is the mentality, in a fast pace, dynamic world.

I managed to get 20K of ISAs into Nationwide at 3.6%, fixed until this coming October (been there for almost a year already). But I fear for what I'll do afterwards...

Nice. My 3.3% fixie has just matured. The latest 14 month bond pays 2% no matter what deposit level, the same as their eSaving account. Looks like they don't really want our money.
