MississippiJohnHurt
(snip)It's a really bad day for bears today I thought you didn't care about house prices because you are never going to sell anyway
LondonToManchester
How able are you to pay a 10% mortgage rate? How able is the rest of the population? That is still a fairly low rate relative to what will be needed to have government stimulus to protect the poorest while crimping inflation in the not too distant future Yep i could pay a 10% rate if needed don't know about the rest of the country. Sceptical
Gross lending stood at £11.5bn, up by 16% from February to move house in the middle of the better weather," he said."What we said at the beginning of the year was that we expected over the course of 2009, £145bn to be lent, and we are on track with that forecast, and that has to be compared with £363bn in 2007," he added. It's a really bad day for bears today Gross financing = refinancing to take advantage of low rates. Every day is a good day for bears. Jister1
So still forcasting £145bn lending this year vs £363bn for 2007. Which bit don't you get? would bigger deposits not have an affect on how much lending would be needed? if so then the gap between 2007 and 2009 after deposits, will not be as bad as you have made it look...people will be putting more down and borrowing less. ten years of boom means people have the money to put down more up front. Couple that with prices being lower and then there is a good shout for some growth this year if it continues....imo. I dont see much growth till 20211-2012 ...but you just never know Edited April 24, 2009 by Jister1
