  1. Why do you say that? The parliament doesn't negotiate ... O Gawd, I ain't going to list them - the European treaties. And the parliament doesn't raise taxes. Whatever you dislike about the EU is the fault of national executives, as approved by their national parliaments. Basically, it's your fault.
  2. ... but if they're fat - and I mean Queen fat - then riding on bicycles could get them knocked over by ... a house of cards that's been hit by ... the winds of change ...
  3. The demented troll posts links to his sources. You just post personal opinion + an avatar of the Great Don.
  4. Hah! The first human being I could identify was William Hague. Clarke has really fallen out of bed. And maybe Greening isn't too bad after all. Tory members eat crisps for breakfast.
  5. Plus it's a mystery that Danny Alexander is still in the Lib Dems. Or why the Lib Dems exist.
  6. Hmm - interesting history to that song - I wonder who the selfish-girl singer is: WP doesn't give a link to her.
  7. Plenty of party members (not just voters) consider Cameron not to be a true conservative - I heard those rumblings way back before the election, but I still haven't figured out what those people believe in. It may just be a feedback loop between them and the front page of the DM/Express/Telegraph. They're definitely not quick on picking up contradictions between Hayek and bank bail outs. Anyway, they're right - but probably not for the reasons they think. So they're the kind who tick the box for IDS. And bloody good job too, I say!
  8. My point was that one common man doesn't show much sympathy to another common man if he comes from beyond the border. But no biggie. Your linked video is interesting, although he didn't get into the stats on issues that you (I think) posted earlier, ie. 73% want renationalisation of power/ rail etc. His figures don't chime with my experience - all the UKIPers I know are secure pensioners/homeowners. They certainly aren't the left behind, and I think most of them are former public sector. But I'm in south coast suburbia - maybe the Thames estuary is a different environment for politics. edit: "thersa" is a risky word to market this video.
  9. That's a nice story. But it's not true. Can you come up with a better example of "the common man" than ... an immigrant?
  10. All you're confirming is a bias - Lincolnshire is Little Holland, plucky protestants versus state catholics. Can't you see this is just repetition of newspaper bolloxology over hundreds of years? I suppose increased access to knowledge could be revolutionary. Or it could lead to choking on autistic vomit.
  11. Errr. 2L of water for 17p in Asda. Sometimes I even opt for bubbles! This has been true for years. Anyone paying more is daft (or has an M&S credit card), given it's the same product as Evian. Also: you can get a bag of crisps in Asda for about 5p. Please don't draw quality distinctions - in nutrition terms it's the same crap.
  12. Here's the other lesson from the US: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-04-30/shale-drillers-feast-on-junk-debt-to-say-on-treadmill.html
  13. I sympathise. The future does not look good. But optimism is the only choice. UKIP doesn't do it.
  14. I thought I was clever spotting that was Phil Collins on drums and thinking it was all a bit West Country. It's just Genesis and not very good. But I can relate selling England by the pound to this ...
  15. Seems he's working things out pretty well. Sceptical of vulgar opinion, especially his own!
  16. I second recommends for Southbourne. No idea about the schools. Poole is a spiderweb for traffic. Beyond the limited quayside it's an urban zit - horrible town centre. And the suburbs have lots of nasty glass 'n steel Sandbanks-style add-ons to crap 1970s builds. Overall you still have to put up with the lottery of commuting through the New Forest - a dual carriageway that needs to be be a motorway. In my experience, 1/5 chance of a 30 minute parking lot even outside rush hour. You did say you could avoid rush hour too, but the road is a permanent source of OFFS - as the eyes of another badger corpse stare through the abyss of your passenger window. Maybe look rural/village between New Forest and Southampton. Some lovely spots there, but definitely a couple of degrees colder.
  17. Nothing in particular. Just my cynical expectation that we will destroy each other to discover how to help each other.
  18. I'm sure there's a strong evangelical element in UKIP, reminiscent of Northern Ireland. That probably explains Cameron's christian nation appeal last week. What's the evidence on Farage as a christian?
  19. I think that's the best point to take away from this thread - the managers may lose their power. So the neolib tendency in LibDems now has to give way to the liberal tendency of party activists who overwhelmingly push for decent accomodation. Phew! Everything's solved. Once we get the coming war out of the way.
  20. LOL - I'd forgotten about him. How on earth does the political system select people like that? A pair of tan slacks, some driving gloves, a few G&Ts down the local golf club ... O God, I'm describing Alan Partridge land.
  21. Weird that QT keeps coming up on HPC. Does anyone on this forum draw a drop of insight from this pantomime? It should be a non-event. The Simpsons - Just Don't Look. Seems that doesn't work.
