Is this the end of the Conservative Party?
Joris Bohnson replied to NoHPCinTheUK's topic in House prices and the economy
LOL Black mamba, plastic toy snake more like. Given he couldn't even muster the 100 MPs needed to be on the ballot for party leader in October 2022 after Liz "human hand grenade" Truss went off within 49 days of him leaving, I sincerely doubt that incompetent twit will be anywhere near No 10 again in his lifetime. Thankfully. -

I'm hoping for a Canada 1993 style wipeout. It's a low probability, however I think it's underpriced given their unpopularity (YouGov had them on 18% last week), and the likely squeeze that Reform will have on their vote. The longer they wait to go the worse it'll be for them too. I think 14 November is what I 've seen as a possible date, but it could be as late as next January still. -

Not bad. Where can I sign up to be a troll for Kirstie All-slop's Foxtons Alliance? -
The 10yr gilt has reached its short term bottom
Joris Bohnson replied to frosti2k2's topic in House prices and the economy
Today the UK sold the 30-year benchmark gilt at the highest yield for a sale via syndication since records began in 2005. Oh dear. Not looking good is it? -

Days since the date Stewy confidently predicted the BoE rate cuts were "baked in" from: 111. Tick tock, it's incorrect prediction o'clock. ✅ ✅ ✅ -
I think the dip to £1,923 from Sunday will probably be the time to fix, I can't really see it falling much further as just because the UK is mild, doesn't mean the rest of Europe and indeed North America will be this winter.

Russell Brand and people defending indefensible
Joris Bohnson replied to Staffsknot's topic in Current affairs
There's a slight difference between making an ill advised joke that causes someone offence and allegations of child grooming, sexual assault and rape though. A lot of these articles are sensationalised in order to drive 'clicks and shares' - purely because we've built a system which rewards content that makes us fearful or angry. Also your 'the new puritanism' comment reminds me of Stewart Lee's 'these days, if you say you're English' sketch. -

Yes, and why do you think people are using cars to traverse the Pennines instead of rail? -

Again, I think it's more of a capacity thing really- you free up the existing infrastructure for more freight. However, like most things it signals that the Government are serious about rebalancing the economy and would encourage inward investment and increasing prosperity to the region. That said - the time taken to get from Manchester to Leeds by TPE is embarassingly slow really. -

Great news. Shame they wasted all that money on the leg between London and Birmingham. The money would have been better spent on HS3 (Liverpool-Leeds) and then upgrading existing infrastructure including electrification and capacity, but that would have involved someone having a vision that extended beyond vanity projects and London being the center of the universe.
