  4. Hilco are the retail sectors undertakers. The company has a record of putting dying retailers out of their misery: Allders; Mk One and MFI among them.
  5. How young do they start out there ? "Hi my name is Sigga and I'm 26 years old mother of four children from the age 2 to 13 years old"
  6. Also http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/no...encer-debenhams Christmas starts early as M&S and Debenhams launch sales Analysts are warning of the worst Christmas for retailers for many years "In a sign that conditions on the high street are worsening, Marks & Spencer is preparing to hold a "20% off" sale tomorrow - its biggest promotion in the run-up to Christmas in four years. Analysts warned of the worst Christmas for retailers for many years. M&S is cutting the price of everything in its stores by 20% for one day tomorrow. Sir Stuart Rose, executive chairman, has not taken such drastic measures since he took over the firm in 2004 when it was in the doldrums and he wanted to shift unwanted stock. It is only the second time in M&S's history that it has run such a pre-Christmas promotion. " No xmas for many this year!!
  7. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbys...igh-street.html Hilco are the retail sectors undertakers. The company has a record of putting dying retailers out of their misery: Allders; Mk One and MFI among them. The stock market has been pricing in the chance of the retailer collapsing for months – Woolworths is now a stock market tiddler with a market value of just £52m. Yet the fact that Richard North, chairman of Woolworths, was prepared to even countenance talks with Hilco is a further demonstration of just how much trouble the Woolworths retail arm is in.
  8. I received the Natwest Magazine on Saturday and who should be featured in a 3 page spread bloody Phil I nearly spat my weatabix out he was singing the virues of renting
  9. No chance of me getting a mortgage off them and I earn decent money!!
  10. Greed has taken over for recent years. My dad was badly injured in a work accident and got compo in the 60's bought his house out right then bought my mums current house for £1000 in 1970. I thought we were rich in 70's/early 80's as we grew our own veg and kept hens and had free eggs and other people in the village could not match that!! WOuld be laughed at these days but we have forgotted how it was and gold share dealing/ house price gains is now the norm
  11. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7724325.stm "The $700bn (£494bn) US bail-out package has already "clearly helped stabilise" the financial system, US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has said. But he added that there were still many challenges ahead and market turbulence was likely to continue for some time. Mr Paulson said authorities had abandoned plans to use some of the $700bn to buy up banks' bad debts. He also appeared to rule out giving any of the funds to US carmakers, saying the bail-out was for financial firms. " GM and FOrd down the pan then!
  12. I know a few smug local government workers expecting a final salary pension scheme and to be able to retire early that wont happen!!
  13. Got an old Uni Mate just told me he is being finished works for Sony Ecikkson there shutting his office. I was made redundant beginning of 2002 was on dole 8 months so its not something to triffle about took me years to get back to where I was before had to take much more mundane jobs then travel miles to and from work to get a decent job will be much worse than when I was let go

  18. http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/busi...icle5114343.ece "LLOYDS TSB is secretly providing financial support to HBOS through a £10 billion loan facility, in a covert agreement between the two banks. The revelation of the deal, to help HBOS with its wholesale-funding needs, comes after two of Scotland’s most senior bankers launched a sensational attempt to block the proposed takeover of HBOS by Lloyds. The loan shows how closely they are working ahead of the merger and the scale of support will surprise the City." How many more secret deals are going on out there ?
  19. I predict christmas day will be on December 25th next year!! I reckon 135k by Dec next year. Brown will go full term wont be an election next year
  20. Whats in it for the CC company ? We saw EGG pull cards from people who pay their bills off because they make little from the retailer for for the transactions on the cards. The interest is where the real money is
  21. My view is it will get harder and harder to get a CC those who do the limit will be very low and APR very high. People who regularly pay them off will also get them pulled completely.
  22. Any movement down yet with todays rate cut ?
