  1. Jumping to the other side, sorry to say. Hope to have a 95% asking price offer accepted. 187K against 195K delusion price.2nd offer up from 183K Been offered a 5yr Fix with Nat West @ 3.09 ( £251 on 45K over 20 Years). Can over pay 10% per year will have this down to 25k by time of renewal. Got to jump in, cannot wait, clocks ticking waited 5 years, saved like mad but I'm 45 next Jan and times ticking. If it does eventually crash around their heals I've got equity to shield me, but very wary of Government actions to date and if i sat out for another 5 years might still be no nearer. Job wise should be OK Civil Servant doing Aviation safety (Not much chance of being P45'd). Mil pension until i die which covers mortgage payment easily. Old age sorted just got to get a house to live in. Sadly 2 children 13 and 10 are going to be completely fcuked by this government and i never thought i'ld say that of a Conservative one. My advice to them already is study a foreign language and get out of this country.
  2. Time for a few timely updates having had various offers refused recently: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-37256482.html?premiumA=true Offer of 170k rejected, needs new kitchen, carpets and a EnSuite fitting. No further offers but a recent 5K reduction in asking price. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-26375703.html Offer of 210K rejected. Then went sold now back available. Will need double glazing to the front windows at some time. Vendor looking for very close to asking price. Anecdotal: My neighbour in a 2 bed terrace achieved a offer of 110K then upped to 118K against a asking price of 124K, outstanding mortgage of 121.5 in effect they are in Neg Equity. Young family 2 children 5 and 3, need to sell so they can use the H2B scheme to buy a 4 bed New build @ 300K. Feel that they will be left to burn big time when IR rise, mortgage broker has done a deal for them @ a initial payment of £850 a month and then additional £150 a month payment when the H2B scheme becomes due.Feel sad for them as i've got a feeling that they'll crash and burn at some point. 4 beds available 2 miles down the road http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-26399187.html?premiumA=true The effect of H2B in Somerset can be determined to be an additional 100K to the builder C/O your caring government
  3. You need to prove that your outgoings match your wage. I to faced a similar situation 6 years ago with the ex demanding spousal for a limited period of 5 years. A quickly ( in terms of court time) obtained child contact order for alternate week ends ensured that any spousal claim was a non starter as mortgage/rent for new place to meet contact order requirements, house bills,Gas,Elec CSA, ETC equaled my incoming wages. A judge can not put in you a financial position where it is impossible for you to meet the requirements of a court order issued by another judge in the same court. I got 8% equity of the FMH but kept my pension which i now draw aged 43 and my pension lump sum. Just offered on a new place at 20% off asking, if it goes thru the mortgage is sub 20k. Final order say ex with 20k less than my original offer once she had repaid legal aid and debts with no further claim.
  4. That's my boy i'll leave my will to the vendor as well
  5. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-20182146.html?premiumA=true http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32554477.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32245030.html oinnng to have a look and consider a offer what do you think these are worth?
  6. 12 x £23500x 3.5% and CPI index linking for each year say £7k. Not looking to invest in defined benefit scheme, ex mil pension at age 55 should be approx 20K, OAP pension at 65 anything else just gets taxed to death.
  7. I only joined Feb this yr at 42, so currently it's only worth £280 a year.It costs me £60 a month so £480paid. I've got a MOD pension paying 13k a year from the 24 years i did.. MIL pension index linked from age 55 in just over 12 years. Got 26 years NI contribution so no need to do much more for OAP. As i said no pay rises, not even incremental ones, to get poorer at 5.5% a year, with another 3% in payment coming out.
  8. I'm going to get slated here but i'm a CS. PAY £23,500 with no incremental pay rise. I'm in Nuvos pension scheme pay 3.5% for a 2.3% benefit.. Since 2007 all new CS have been on this scheme. Looking at the new proposal to acrrue pension at 1/60th per year. So my current accrual rate of 1/44th a year for which i pay 3.5% will now be an "improved" scheme accruing 25% less and paying me 3% more in effect double. f***K me no wonder it's strike day on the 30th, and i'm not in the union. I'm no diversity or equaility or even H and S, 5a day bloke, i'm paid this for doing project engineering with the aerospace area of DE&S. I'll go contracting instead. .
  9. I am 42 with £115,000 deposit. I, earn £23500 and also receive £11100 a year pension. Major outgoing is Child Support at £460 a month. Max i can borrow is circa £80,000, YBS i think was even less at £78,000. Even on a LTV of less than 40% i cannot borrow more than £80k Luckily Somerset and the Southwest are crashing hard. A similair house to this was viewed by myself in 2008 when the developer wanted circa £230,000 http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-18553266.html Might just place a cheaky offer of 15% off with no chain .
  10. Yep, get shot PDQ if she is of that mentality; Nothing worse than a woman wanting to keep up with the neighbours. Best thing i ever did and this recession/HPC has lost the ex £50K and saved ne the same.......long may it continue.
  11. I saw the writing on the wall last year prior to SDSR. I am out of thr RN end of April and start with new employment tomorrow. As i told my boss there's a "Sh*t storm" coming down the track and i'm looking after no 1......As a Avionics Tech i've got employment in a bad enough environment before another batch of similair qualified guys and girls start looking. Everyone i have spoken to who has done similiar time (22years+) is going to apply for redundancy and if they are unlucky enough not to get selected will be applying for release. Nots of concern regarding govermnet changes to pension entitlements and taxing of gratuity payments. It's a big worry but the pensions in the bank and houses are getting cheaper.
  12. I very much doubt it, plenty of ATPL holders with 1000+ hour experience in the real world looking for employment. Who is going to employ a "chopped" Crab who (1) Does not hold a APTL or (2) Has only minimal hours and then only accrued as a student? Perhaps Ronald Mcdonald might be able to offer a few careers.
  13. Basic Flying training is Tri- Service to include Navy and Army rotary wing requirements.......This 25% rnay include RN & Army. Those being chopped will not be qualified to fly untill they have completed type conversion. One wonders if there will be similair news article in Sept 11 when the first phase of compulsary redundancy of HM Forces hits the streets. This is good news and the right decision.
  14. Whilst waiting for the rain to abate been and view these lovelies. All of these were built by a well known national builder, sold, and then subsequently bought back by the builder post issues with subsidance. They have been underpinned with a 10yr cover on the work carried out....Work was recently completed and have been recarpeted Kitchens, baths, showers ETC are fittted. Sealed bids by 1200 Fri 29th oct. Viewed todaay with approx 5 other interested bidders I'm thinking 25% off guide prices. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28136845.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28136212.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28136302.html http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-28136911.html What do the HPC crowd think is 25% not enough?
  15. Air Engineer Tech (CPO) past 22 yr point., 2yrs into a 5 year extension of service. Got to leave at some point and IMHO there's a whole lot of pain and grief inbound.
  16. Finally 9 months after applying for a Job with the CS i have a formal letter of appointment to start 21 Feb 11. Was getting very worried that the job application may have been culled in the Spending Review Current employer more than happy to release me early to take thisy instead of having to pay me voluntary / compulsary redundancy.
  17. I know this area very well. The B road links Langport to Burrowbridge by passing Aller and Othery as a bit of a short cut. the other side of the road is one of the Sedgemoor drains that prevent the area from flooding. Sedgemorr does flood but this area is not prone.Nearest town is Langport about 3 miles away and the nearest pub about a nile if it,s still open. Worth 300K not IMHO
  18. In all its glory: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-25740214.html?premiumA=true
  19. I'm looking to buy in Taunton having lived there for the best part of 10 years. Whilst he may "get it" asking prices are still out of kitter with local employment oppertunities. Taunton is or was in the top 20 by % of adults working for the state......Musrgove park hospital, Somerset County Council HQ, Governemnt property lawers, Charity Commision, Hydrographic Office ......ETC. The town will suffer drasticly once to coalition start making 20& cuts and Taunton will not be immune.Fact is there is no major private employment in the town nearest must be Agusta Westlands in Yeovil thats 25 miles away and if AW loose the "Wildcat Lynx" contract you'll not be able to give houses awy in Yeovil.I'm not paying 169,000 for a 3 bed house in town not matter what Mr Whilley says.
  20. Been trying to join the CS since Jan when the CS advertised for broad band D Aircraft Engineering vacanies. Found out last week that my application is ongoing and proceeding. This was delayed by the G/E and up unto 2 weeks ago i thought it had fallen off the scope.Mid twenties starting salary and 8K first appointment expenses.....that'll cover the cost of buying a place. Still think there's going to be a HPC but not of biblical proportions but not in a position to turn the CSjob down.
  21. Been watching Taunton and areas around the area with interest over the last 2 years watching waiting and saving Put an offer on a property GTH had to sell that was not accepted before Xmas, drove past on Friday and they are both still not sold with boards advertising the fact. I have the deposit (good) and AIP in place with nothing to sell. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/new-homes/property-28081523.html Lets just say that the first figure started with 1 instead of 2, as the buiders have gone into some sort of administration.....Not my problem but they had their good times.
  22. Ex Mrs JJ has managed to loose 90K of 190K DV settlement to date over the last 3 years. Big Solicitors bill repayment of legal aid combined with paying 20K over the odds in May 2008 for 3 bed semi, followed by Credit Crunch have seen to that.
  23. At Bradley Stoke as well. Reading between the lines i can see MOD Abbeywood making a few redundent as well if their budget is cut 20%
  24. Endemic within the CS. I know of 2 MOD CS who took early retirement as part of an efficency head count programme and then came back doing the same job as "contractors". Both took in excess of £100k as severance. One has now rejoined the MOD CS as there was no one with the sufficient experience to fill the post. No call was made on his severence payment as the job being advertised in the local press was deemed to be full and open competition. It's wrong it stinks and we wonder why the CS has no money left.
