  1. Canning Town is the @rsehole of East London. It really is rubbish and has been for over a century. The only thing going for it is that you have decent transport via Jubilee Line or DLR - good selling point that you can get out of the area quick! For that money, you could buy a decent sized house there so I presume the flat is in the Sphere. They aren't bad for flats (relative to other new builds) but terrible value compared to the houses you could get for the same money. Back to your question, you should aim for £200k if you do actually want the flat - or £160k if you want half decent value.
  2. It was less a comment on whether the figure was accurate or not but more a point on critical thinking.
  3. She's a superstar in her own lunchtime http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...c=91169&hl=
  4. Who would have thought that this was a fraud? Just ignore that you can practically put a ruler up against the returns...
  5. Asus eeepc 901 with Linux here. Decent screen, rubbish keyboard (so I have usb keyboard if more typing needed) and fantastic battery life. If all you need it for is web browsing, video/IM chat, listening to music and basic documents then it's ace.
  6. wow - another Internet surprise. I had you down as an old guy that was young at heart. Where's your bike thread? I'm allowed to talk to you about bikes now...
  7. dunno - just figured that you were an old timer, what with you being a "Mista" and all....
  8. So that would make you....... Woah - now you've rocked my world view
  9. C'mon then - what number do you come up with and how did you get to it? ??? Is that so? Let me know when it's my turn to put unjustified words in your mouth. No, this thread demonstrates how much you want to live in a socialist economy - as long as you get to keep your fancy car.
  10. No apologies necessary - forgot to insert the <tongue-in-cheek> smiley. Luvs ya
  11. "I'm working on coming up with a figure"??!?! So you're admitting that you had no idea when you posted your original comment? Just blindly assuming that an extra £4 and hour is pocket change that big companies can afford to throw to the peasants? Take your time. I'll be here when you get back. No attacks from me - just pointing out the obvious. Easier to throw insults rather than admit you are wrong? Go on - I dare you. Admit that you were wrong.
  12. DAMN YOU PARRY!!!! DAMN YOU!!!!! <shakes fist at sky....again>
  13. Instead of continuing to talk out of your ****, why not fill in the blanks in the following sentence; "Tesco employs _______ people in the UK, the vast majority of which are minimum wage shelf-stackers or checkout operators. They work _____ hours a week, and get ______ weeks holiday a year. This works out to _____ man-hours a year and, at £4/hour, £______ per year incremental cost." Seriously, you can't even put basic arithmetic to use and you think you can solve the country's woes?
  14. I agree. Please point me in the direction of where I have said otherwise?
  15. All the ingredients are there for you in the annual report. http://www.tescoreports.com/downloads/tesco_report_final.pdf You're a smart chap. Why don't you show me how it doesn't get close to that?
  16. Can't be arsed to do the same with Asda's or Sainsbury's accounts but I've just done a back of the envelope on Tesco and, unless they raised prices to compensate, then the Feb 2008 profit would fall from £2.13bn to about £200m - and that's on sales of over £47bn. If Tesco can barely make it profitable, few others will be able to - leading to company closures, mass-unemployment, falling sales, rinse & repeat. Emerging from the ashes, companies will only be able to be profitable by raising prices. ie Inflation. See? Told you you were a ******wit
  17. I was going to read this whole thread without rising to BoomBoom's bait - doing a "Parry", so to speak but I couldn't let this one go by. This very statement shows how little you know of the world. Honda spends more and provides more support to motorsport than any other company - period. The great Soichiro Honda was himself a motorcycle and car racer and motorsport enthusiast. He eoncouraged as much participation as possible on the premise that better engineered products made for better sales - and those engineering improvements came from motorsport. That they have decided to pull out of F1 says so much more about F1 than it does Honda. As an engineer, Honda is the company you should aspire to work for. Rant over. ps You're minimum wage plan is idiotic and ill-conceived, and you are a ******wit to boot
  18. I once held two 2kg cannisters of rhodium in a vault in Zurich - security was not pleased when I started juggling them. It's not much to look at and doesn't taste very nice...
  19. I had an idea yesterday to keep takeaway toasted sandwiches from going soggy - wrap them in goretex. Do you think I can get some money from the dragons?
  20. here's a couple of examples http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-199...p;mam_disp=true http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-189...p;mam_disp=true
