Northern Rock is poised to draw on the Bank of England's funding lifeline after bundling up £5bn worth of mortgages as collateral.

Today’s Investor’s Chronicle sendout discusses likely suitors for A&L. Now the share price is low, the vultures are gathering.
I don’t think A&L is completing many new mortgages, they seem to be saving their cash for the inevitable run! Are the BoE going to guarantee them as well?
Does Mervyn have a master plan?
