This little beauty in Brough, E Yorks (smart commuter village for Hull plus many commuters to Leeds) has been finished and for sale for 4 years (never lived in)

Is this a record?

Not surprised its not sold. Judging by the size (don't know the area) this is probably at the top end of the new build spectrum yet the interior finish is poor, the layout looks awful and the house is ugly. People buying at the top end will eb looking for quality finish.

If I bought that house i'd have to rip everything out and start again and completely remodel the interior so it wouldn't be worth it.

Obviously this is just IMHO. Everyones taste differs.

Here is another - this place is near where I live. It has been effectively completed for 4 or 5 years, although to be fair its only been on the market for a year or so. I can only assume there were some sort of planning issues that prevented it being marketed earlier. There is another house the same attached to it, also never occupied but not on the market.

A lovely old, but very run down detached house on corner plot was demolished to squeeze in these two houses...

First listed at 380k if I remember rightly, now £355k.

Looking at sold prices, it seems 3 there haven't sold. 9, 11 and 13.

I wonder if they're the smallest/darkest and on the north side.

Everything on this estate is crammed in/small plots. Bovis had many problems here, at one time there was a large banner hanging from an occupied house near the show homes warning of the perils of buying a Bovis home!

I agree it's not everyones taste and the design is a little odd, but I was making the point that it simply had never sold...surely they would be desperate to offload it. I once viewed a new home with an electricity pylon leg at the bottom of the garden, i commented to the saleswoman something to the effect of "how will you ever sell this?", she gave a knowing smile and a few months later it was occupied.
