Badhairday
There are those who believe that the stock markets are heading for a crash. Does anyone here know what happened to commodity shares (eg mining and oil) in the last crashes?

oracle
There are those who believe that the stock markets are heading for a crash. Does anyone here know what happened to commodity shares (eg mining and oil) in the last crashes? you need to get things into perspective.....in an IR up-cycle.....ie 1975-1989 commodity shares did very well, but consumer led did appallingly...until the last stage of the commodity bull run(basically more supply came online and prices were fairly static....but wage inflation had filtered down from 1985 on. ...last time...1992 to present, consumers led the rally,so retail did fantastically well but the likes of BHP,BP etc were pants. .....now we are in a commodity upswing again...which means crap consumers and higher IR's!!!...so play it ilke the 1970's!!
