Do many memberd spend time on the forum through your company's internet?

What type of websites are blocked if any?

We used to have pretty free access, only things like gambling/porn sites were blocked. In the last few weeks, our IT crowd have been busy.

First it was Flickr, photobucket and the like, all blocked. Next came Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, eBay, Amazon, not even accessible at lunchtime or out of hours. Now anything car related is blocked, auto trader, even small car dealer sites.

Finally , they have blocked HPC, which is probably my doing ?

Barstewards.

Man alive,

that sounds like the crappy games company I worked for a few years ago. They seemed to have a real boner that anyone surfing the web wasn't working, especially when the programmers were on stackoverflow or the artists were on image sites looking for source artwork. Naturally, they blocked music streaming so I got a mobile contract with unlimited internet so I could stream spotify all day.

It all came to a bit of a head when my producer told me that the boss didn't like to see us using IRC clients as it wasn't 'productive', even though we were only using them to deal with our remote contractors. Fair enough, I told the team to stop using it and just email the contractors. Needless to say that caused a shitstorm and I was incredibly happy to run my contract down over the next couple of months.

My employers have odd rules about what's blocked. I tried to submit a gas meter reading one morning before I was due to start work - DENIED! Since when have utility companies website been like porno?

I can view the hpc website no problem (even with the moderate bad language). hpc works well on older browsers. We've just updated from XP to Windows 7 (bang up to date  ) but the Internet Explorer browsers are woefully inadequate. Quite why IT haven't updated these, I do not know. Modern websites just don't work.
