Profumo Affair secret documents labelled too sensitive for the head of MI5 to read could eventually be released - but not for FIFTY years

Ex-war minister John Profumo had affair with Christine Keeler in 1961

Files could hold names of other ministers in Macmillan's government

Judge Lord Denning carried out Government's inquiry into scandal

Background files have been kept secret in Cabinet Office for 50 years

A great use of the Official Secrets Act, we can't have the proles having it confirmed the political elites are corrupt... This should all be released.

Worse examples than that, still no memorial to the peterloo massacre, it was only recently that a blue plaque referring to the event was placed on to the midland hotel near the spot. 100's of peaceful people killed and injured (mostly women and children) by the army whilst peacefully protesting for electoral reform. The uk govt really doesn't like to admit that it is quite capable of behaving like the worst tin-pot dictatorship when the situation arises.
