For at least two of the OL8 houses the disposal terms state: Offeres are invited for the Council's freehold interest. They are to be returned in the envelope provided by 12 Noon on Monday 15th November 2010 Hang on...given that the 15th of November 2011 falls on a Tuesday, isn't the whole web page out of date? Pedro2706 Posted October 11, 2011 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Standard Covering clause in these types of sales-for example someone might bid less but unconditionally and on balance it may be a better offer. Its similar to not having to accept the lowest tender price(as price alone may not be the only determinant). Having said that,the average council couldn't negotiate a good sale or purchase price on anything-they're too busy making sure the boxes are ticked so they don't contravene"policy".
