For me they are the nay-sayers who want to assign labels and be obnoxious to moderates - whilst waving the flag for implicit fascism. They facetiously call themselves liberals, whilst not showing the slightest tendency to be liberal or allowing free speech. For their sins, they idolise the grip of Nu LAb and its many reforms, stripping the man in the street of his right to privacy and self-empowerment, prefering to endorse that which smacks of totalitarianism and authoritarianism. They dislike and rail against small outfit like the BNP, yet are happy to stand aside and be engulfed, by those who would reduce them to minions of an imaginary deity.They are the essence of smug complacency. Not only that, but you've mentioned living by socialist principles for most of your life. Not a personal attack, I'm just confused. I am not attacking liberals. I am flagging up that I am sick of encounters with pseudo-liberals, who are really stalinesque in style. When ever a debate starts they are unable to debate, so start sticking simplistic - usually insulting - labels onto others, obviously unable to differentiate between the many facets of human behaviour. Their black-and-white thinking would be of great concern if I did not know that they frequent forums to have a pop at the rest of humanity. They try to brow beat others into their limited view of the world by crying "witch" Jeez, its been done for centuries and used to work amongst untutored peasants. Me - I am here cos I have no life. Retired and largely tied to my home, I seek stimulation where I can. As I am looking for a permanent residence I haunt this place to pick up tips. Altho' I also frequent other forums of a specialist nature. As to Tory wet: It is the nearest I can think of to label myself in the present political set up.The Tories are mean with money but don't waste it. the Labour govts ALWAYS squander it, chasing will-o-the-wisps, with nowt to show at the end - but debts. There are NO real socialists in politics - well not IMO. I was born to socialist parents and have followed their example of service to others - not always for high pay or even any, altho I have reached a level of being able to ask a high price for my services, I don't insist on it. THAT makes me a socialist. So I put people above money - which is also why I am not rich and can't afford an expensive house...which is why I come on here... yadda ...yadda. Savvy? Got to go now. I agree, sometimes it does feel that way. I could be wrong but was 10% about the same as the BNP polled in the European elections. I think this forum has strong left and right leaning people and often decent debate can be had. I deplore racism but I think it is important to understand why possibly 1 in 10 people who decided to vote, voted for a party that is depicted as far right. I don`t believe it is skin colour that scares folk, I think losing jobs, crime, fear of mass immigration and what people read and hear about Islam from the national press is turning people in the direction of the far right. I remember when I was a nipper and it was almost as simple as black and white. It was skin colour but it`s more complex now. People being Sheeple are running scared of many things in todays Britain and a very similar thing happened across Europe during and after the great depression. I just don`t understand some mentalist comparing someone who voted for the BNP (From fear or maybe ignorance) to that of someone who molests children. I think that a government should listen to the people and maybe we can avoid the mistakes of the past. Sorry X-QUORK....
